this phone number said they work for government funding is that true

i got a call and they said is from federal grand money but they said can send you a check have to be direct deposit or buy this green dot money pak  i have the person name and ext but to me seems very wear the area code is from Washington i surge the internet and other people said is a scam i like to know more about this  anyone ?

It is a scam.
The government does not offer grants to individuals for personal use.
It is a scam ran by off shore con artists to trick you into sending unrecoverable money to them, you get nothing in return.

The only legitimate avenue for government grants is through www.grants.gov which is the official US government webs site for grants.

No government grant-making agency will make phone calls; send email or letters to solicit money or personal banking information from a potential grant recipient.  
There are no processing fees for federal grants.

Know who you're dealing with on the web.  Scam artists will often post a website with a name similar to a legitimate site.

Received a call saying they worked for the government at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC, and my number had been selected to receive a free grant for $9000.00. Wow!!! I told them as much as the USA was in debt with trillions of dollars, how could they be giving away grant money to everyone???? Told them I thought they were scaming me and the guy with an accent, that I COULD NOT hardly understand, (sounded like he was from Iran), got really upset and started hollering at me! Lol He gave me this phone number, which I'm not about to call!!!!

Please stop these calls...we are on the DNC list and have been receiving too many of these calls.

This is a discussion forum where one can report or describe suspicious or unknown phone calls, but reporting them here does not stop the calling.  YOU have to take action to do that!

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

Just recived a phone call from 206-866-5728. was told it was for $9000 for just being an upstanding memeber of socity... paying bills and doing my taxes on time... are they crazy.... the US gov would give it to me in my taxes if I was getting this money ... never have a man that i can not underatand call me on the phone and tell me that they are going to give my $$!!
he also wanted to know my age for his records ... shouldent the goverment know this ??? and why would they call me on my cell phone and not even address me by name !!!

Another call I did not answer !

This is a scam  I'm in WV, my brother in CT got the same call  telling us we are being sued by the IRS.  They change tactics sometimes its your credit, sometimes it's IRS suing sometimes it's a Government Grant,  it's all bull.

called and when you call back indian people give you information about your address

this number left me a message saying i was being sued by the irs? and told me to return their call.

Don't trust this number 206-866-5728 it's fraud!!
