Number called and said I received a US grant

A guy who could not speak English very well told me that I had won grant money from the government and that I could only spend it in "good ways, not on alcohol or gambling". Gave me the number of 1-206-866-5738 as the Treasury Department.

Did you receive the money?

I just received a call from this number saying that I had been awarded a $7,000 grant from the U S Grant Department and I needed to call this number with a  confirmation number and speak to a supervisor.  NOT!

It's a scam for sure they wanted $200 from me to receive this fake grant I never applied for

They claim to have 7,000 dollars free grant money but i need two hundred to send them to wire it.i asked alot of questions they became annoyed ans hung up.they had several different voice changes but the same accent...now i have to wait til Oct 15th to get my fetty...lol.they scamming and don't have enough info to trick a G.

Things to believe:

• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government    <<<<<<<<<<<<
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to pay money for a loan or prize, BEFORE getting the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse.

Tamianth thank you for info.  I just received this call and reported it. Also for people to know if Government agency calls you its phone number does not come up as "Unavailable". Honest people beware

I did not call 206 866 5738 back. The stench was mind boggling. .lol ☺ The man with the accent could barely pronounce my name. When Uncle Sam calls he does not show his number as unavailable. I even said to doof doof,  wow I've won a grant I didn't apply for....I couldn't help but smirk over the phone...Needless to say I did not call scam artists doof doof. Oh and since I didn't call number the fool is now trying to call me back...unavailable. ....I rejected the call.

These people are scam artists dont b fooled

These people have been calling me since yesterday too. I finally answered today and they gave me the info they had about me and I called the "Quote Back Number". Once i called, the male told me about the $200 i had to give. I told him a cant afford that, things are rough. He said he would contact the bank and see if anything was possible. After waiting a while I called back because damn, I've been stressed out, you know what it is tell me i won 7k? I'm going to get to the bottom of it. Talked to about 4 or 5 different people. Finally the lady confirmed the situation and the guy I was talking too that was supposed to call back. I asked a lot of questions. They would tell me "Look, you don't have to do this if you don't want too." of course i don't. I confirmed a few things. The lady told me that the guy, "Sebastian" was trying to contact me but he was very busy with another client. I don't know, man, I'm desperate for money. I ended up not having to do the $200 thing and they said I will receive a check from the bank in about 15 or so business days. Lets see if I actually get anything. If not, and they ruin me, I'm prepared to [***] them over. I don't play games.

They actually didn't ask for personal information either.

Was told i needed to call this number by some guy at (646) 624-9999.  Said he was from GS Government Grants Dept and that the US Government wants to give me a grant of $7,000.  He gave me a number to call to speak to his manager...(206) 866-5738.  Checked the original number on this site and the (646) number usually says they are from Microsoft.  Guess they decided to change it up a bit.  Whatever!  Since it was my cell phone, i can block it.  I get to block up to 100 numbers and i've only had to block about 11 since i got the phone 1 month ago.

Didn't start getting these calls until i switched back to Verizon from Sprint.  Are they selling our phone numbers or something.

Just for giggles i dialed the 206-866-5738 number.  Some lady answered and sounded annoyed.  Guess a lot of people have been calling her to confirm their "grant money"!  She should change her number.

Got the call Friday was told the same b.s. about $7000 federal grant same call back number 2068665738 ext 447   they called again today  I told them I had no money to deposit they said they would hold for me  I hung up and called the better business bureau was told about the fraud

The first guys that called could barely speak English..  But the number didn't come up as unknown ..But I called it back not even 2 mins later and it has been disconnected... So I call the 206-866-5738. # and the non English speaking lady proceeds to call me a [***] multiple Times.. And says as I chuckle.. "I'm guna take ur ass off" hahaha so I asked her what that meant and she said I really am a stupid [***]... So I asked to talk to a manager... Of course not being able to.. Scam all the way

First a man name James walker who can barely speak English called made it sound good saying I get 8,000 t
But didn't mention any money that I had to give. He game me a grant number and security code then told me to call 206-866-5738 ext 777 and speak to Rosa Marie. I called and she made it sound good until she told me to get a green dot card and pay $4.00 for it then pay $200 to update it, I said why would I put $200 on it and her voice got funny and smart and said that's how I'll receive my money so I knew it was a scam and ended the call.
