they identify themselves as officer John White tell us there's an arrest warrant out for someone at this address and that our address is under federal investigation and to call 209-565-6305.

very aggressive phone call saying they are IRS and sending sheriff to arrest me in 30 minutes and asking if I am at home.
say i owe $958.  i hung up on them but it was kinda scary

Same story as the others. I filed a report at the Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration. They claim to have received over 20,000 reports.

Got the same call but because I wasn't home "Officer John White" left a voice message.  Same exact thing-this is the IRS and you're under investigation and have a warrant out.  Obviously I didn't return the call.

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

2) Help kill their phone lines but not by calling them back directly (the number may be spoofed and repeat calls by you may - under exceptional circumstances- amount to harassment). The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). this IRS scamer called and left a threatening mesg stating there's is a warrant for my arrest.

Got phone call scammers now using other number to call said  in the message that John White Office that my physical a dress is under federal investigation .Did even mentioned my last name or address.Scammers nothing else don't fall for it.its the same like they call from phone numbers with area code 202 IRS don't call they send agents in person if it's federal investigation.As well as acsent speaking guy.Do. Not answers  on my phone I will never answer numbers I don know first after receiving call I check on this list phone number and then of course scammers I block.

Same reports as everyone else - IRS SCAM. Was very difficult to understand the message due to a heavy accent.  What a Loser!

Received message from "Officer John White" our address under federal investigation.  To clear up this matter we must hear from you today.  Footless phone number and read the other comments.  

I got a threatening message from officer White -- warrant..arrest and all, speaking with a horrible accent. this was yesterday
