I was called and told my computer was infected with a virus and I should log on to a web site and they would help me get rid of it.  I told them to call back that I needed to call the police as someone must have broken into my house and used my computer as I was out of the country all week.  He hung up.

Received a call from someone claiming to be from Windows help line, telling me my computer was infected with a virus. I've received several like phone calls in the past, and know it is a scam. They want you to log onto your computer, then they try to get you to reveal personal information or load software onto your system so they can take control. Some how they are able to use other organizations phone numbers to make these calls. For example this number 212 777-3555 is the number that showed up on my caller ID. In reality it is a number for a charity in New York. I usually screw with these people and go along with there scam for as long as I can keep them on the phone, telling them some out of this world outrageous story. Typically these scamsters or are they scumsters have overseas accents. If anyone knows how to report or who to report this activity to please post.  

Got a call from this number and after saying hello several times they hung up on me. I am glad since I just read the posts about it being a scam.
