Reported that I was being brought in front of a judge in LA for tax audit for 2011 as part of an enforcement action executed by the US Treasury.   Indian accent and couldn't answer any questions regarding authenticity of the issue.  He hung up when I asked for credentials.

I got a message from a man with a heavy foreign accent stating that he was calling from the US Treasury Department about an enforcement action. There was a mention about a grand jury and federal offense. The call concluded with the promise that he wanted to help and that I should call back. Of course it is a scam. Neither the IRS nor the Treasury Department will initiate contact via phone.

So I called back for sport, blocking my number. He wanted to know my phone number and so I gave him HIS NUMBER. It didn't raise any red flags with him that I was playing with him. He wanted to know my name and I gave him a completely ridiculous name. (When he wanted me to spell it, the name included three e's in a row.) He mentioned that I had underpaid my 2011 taxes. He said it could have been intentional or accidental. He wanted to know if someone helped me prepare my taxes. He also wanted to know if I had an attorney. He mentioned that if I didn't take action, he was going to instruct the authorities to arrest me immediately and that I would be held for no less than six months. He wanted to know if I had anything to say and I said I was surprised. He told me that I knew what to do and I said I didn't. He hung up and never got around to ask for my credit card number. I'm guessing he didn't like my answers.

Official IRS Government site detailing this scam and providing links to report it:
    http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam

If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS.  Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):

Just got the call myself and I called them back.  Told me I did not pay my taxes for year 2011.  I then replied that I did not file taxes that year because I was out of the county all year.  She then hung up. (LOL)  Such idiots.

I just got this call on my machine, hard to understand, says if I ignore it I will be brought up on charges.  I thought that if you were to be actually summoned to appear in court you receive that paperwork in person and not by someone over the phone that has a heavy accent.  I did not call back

This company, called my elderly parents, threatening to put them in jail if they did not pay their back taxes from 2011. I called them back the next day from my work phone, I work at a law firm, so I'm sure it popped up on their called ID. An unidentified female with a thick middle-eastern accent provided me with the address: 304 S. Broadway Ave. Ste. 550, Los Angeles, CA 90013. would NOT provide company name.  I didn't give any information regarding who I was, she spat off the address quickly, I asked her to repeat it. I thanked her and hung up. I don't intend to let this go, this can be very scary for some, this is a SCAM, and HARRASSMENT as well. For those of you who want to know, I will be doing research to find out who exactly owns this company. How is it that they know who owes what to the IRS, this cannot be random calls to the public, they have to be getting this information from somewhere. I will post any information I find, if anyone is interested.

I got a call from a guy with foreign accent that I could barely understand, threatening with a grand jury.  He wanted to "help" me, wanted me to call him back. I did not call back, it was kind of scary, as I do have some tax problems.  Thanks to this forum to help warn others.

Yeah, left a message with a thick Indian accent saying I was to appear before a magistrate for a tax matter.  Quality of call was very poor like it was coming over VOIP from another country.  Totally bogus sounding.  The IRS either mails you a letter or if you've really been an idiot, sends someone to your house.
