I received a call from this number this morning saying they are with the FDA.  They accused me of trying to buy phentermine online in 2007 saying it was illegal for me to try and buy this prescription drug online and that they were going to send an agent to arrest me.  They had my work address and were very convincing.  They were saying that they were going to arrest me and extradite me to the Dominican Republic because that is where the drug was being ordered from.  It was scary at first until I figured out it was all a lie.  In the end, they told me I would need to sign some papers saying I would no longer order this type of medication online (which I don't ever remember doing) and pay a $2000.00 fine. They said they were going to send an agent to my work withing 5 to 10 minutes to give me the paperwork and collect the fine.  I told them I do not have $2000, and that I don't even have any proof that they are who they say they are, and they hung up.  I sent an e-mail to the ACTUAL FDA and let them know what happened and gave them the phone number.

They just called me this week as well. The return number I was given is 213-457-3417 The man that left me a voice mail stated his name is Special Agent Paul Roberts from the Food and Drug Administration. I received a call similar to this earlier this year which when I Googled the phone number I discovered it was a scam. I never returned the call. Just Googled the number again and look at that ... Someone else within the same day posted. Not a coincidence. I didn't return the call and aside from doing my good duty in posting this I'll waste no more time on it.

This is a scam.

Bottom line, research when people call claiming they belong to any agency and request everything in writing. If it's legit you always get documentation. And FYI agents are not coming to your work. Tell them to send them if they have them and that they better have documented proof of any order they're claiming you've made or you're suing them. Watch how fast they hang up.

i got this same call about a hour ago.he said that a agent will be at my house with in 3 to 5 min.said i would spend 3 to 7 years in jail.i told him cool and why you called to tell me.if it was for real they would not call, just come bust down your door.got this call a few mounts ago and still waiting for that to come.

I received the same call from John Roberts. Verbiage was scary but the voice and bad accent was a total joke. I called the number after hours only to hear a very poorly recoded and unprofessional message. Knew it was a scam right off the bat but this website confirmed it. Thanks for posting everyone, I hope no one out there falls for the scam.

I received the exact same phone call as Sarah did. I kept asking questions for an address and what I need to get out of it. He never gave ma a monetary figure but did say to be ready in 3-5 minutes. It has now been over 2 hours. I called my local Sheriffs dept. because if this was not a scam  wanted someone in the law enforcement to be there to look at the documents to see if they are real. The Sheriffs had the FBI call me and they confirmed no was was "Coming to take me away Ha Ha."

Just got the same call with all the same names and threats. When I asked for badge # and other info he stumbled on all of it. I told him to send the paperwork and my lawyer would look over it and make sure it was on the up and up. He then said I ether accept the fine now or agents would be there to arrest me with in 5 minutes. I told them I'll be waiting out front for them and he hung up. I did report it to the local police who said there wasn't much they could do based on the fact I didn't give them any money. It would seem to me in this day and age they could track these people down having there phone niumber, but I don't know enough about that to say one way or the other. Bottom line... always chalange peole who say they are an official agent. If they are they can only respect you for making sure and keeping yourself and family safe.

I also recieved the same call, they said I have 5 minutes and no under no circumstances discuss it with my husband. I hope no one falls for this scam.

So glad you guys posted this!! My friend just called me freaking out about this call she had just gotten from the FDA and I said "what is the number?" She gave it to me and I asked if she had googled it and she hadn't because she was driving so I did and found this! She has now calmed down!!

Just got this call at 10:50 this morning. A "kid" with an asian accent left a voicemail that said he was with the FDA and demanded that I call this number or face local law enforcement. What a joke!!! don't fall for it! Get an address for this scam and call your local police. This number is out of Los Angeles.

My girlfriend always has all the answers!  I called this afternoon and she calmed me down from this phone call!!  What a joke and do not be scammed!  Google is the answer to all!  Thanks Jelly!!

Yup - Special Agent Paul Roberts, 213-457-3417. I knew by his poor English. We should all chip in and fly down to the Dominican Republic and track this a hole down and teach him a lesson he will never forget. These scum have no balls - although castrating him would be a pleasuable expierence for all of us to watch. His day will come. My call with him never led to him asking or demanding money. When I asked him "how do I know who you say you are" he stated they (FDA agents) would be over to arrest me. I asked him where they will come and he asked me if I was at work or home. I told him I was at work and asked which one of my offices will you arrive at and gave him 3 locations in 3 different cities. He had to answer, put me on hold to get his supervisor to speak with me. After 5 or so minutes, he said his supervisor had stepped away from his desk. Said I would be extridited to the DR to stand trial on Monday and likely serve 5-7 years for on line Rx purchase in 2007. He said he checked my backround and found no arrests and not even a speeding ticket. Well - I have had a few speeding tickets, although 10 + years ago. He ended by saying they will be there shortly but since I was cooperative, I wouldnt be handcuffed. Never did say what office he would show up at. I quickly went on line and saw these posts. I will call and harass this number until I get this out of my system. Yesterday, he answered and I wont repeat what I told him but needless to say he hung up on me. The number was disconnected for most of yesterday but back to his fake message today.

This special agent Paul Roberts called from 213-457-3416 said he wanted to talk to someone in our company, I am only the receptionist, he accused this girl of buying online prescriptions and agents were going to arrest her...surprise she was killed in October 2011 by an intruder who broke in her house! Well good luck with that Special Agent Roberts the person you called on 12/15/11 IS DEAD, maybe we should investigate you!

I received a scary phone call from "Special agent Paul Roberts"  asking me to call 213 985 3490.  It is a scam and he is posing as a Federal agent.

Same BS now twice about month apart from Paul Roberts @ my office #. Same basic spiel but return # was 213-985-3490 x 778. Really scared me until i started to put 2 and 2 together.

Received a call today (January 26th) from someone who says he is "Special Agent Paul Roberts of the US FDA Food and Drug Administration Department" (a bit redundant, huh?) calling me about an "on-going federal investigation against a previous pharmaceutical company you dealt with in the past." He said if there is not a possibility they can contact me by phone, they will refer it "to the local authorities so they can take it from there."  He asked me to call him at (213) 985-3490, which are the criminal investigation offices."  I returned this call twice, but got voicemail.  Until I googled the phone number and read these posts, I thought it was a real investigation.

Today I received a voice mail which was precisely the same as John (26 Jan 2012) described above. The phone number was also the same: (213) 985-3490.

I was left a message today (2/13/2012) from this Special Agent Paul Roberts too but the phone number I was to call was 203-583-4107.  He left the same message as above for John (1/26/2012). It was scary until I found this! What jerks...I hope someone stops them because I am sure there are those out there who give them money or too much info!

I got the same call saying I had illegally purchased drugs over the internet, would be fined, etc.  I asked him what his ID number was and he got very upset and hung up.  THought I would share this...seems like a good way to get rid of the vermin.

I got the same call left a message on my voice mail and i thought if i was in some type of real trouble wouldn,t the police come to my door inseed of someone calling me?  His phone number is 877-624-5009 ex2227.  When I called the answering machine it didn't say his name or "I've reached the FDA criminal investigation dept." After seeing this blog I know realize it is a scam and won't try to order anything online anymore.  Really scarred me.
