- dand| 5 repliesThis is a scam pretending to be from the IRS. It was a robocall left on my answering machine claiming to be Officer Judy Smith from the IRS notifying me of a legal petition for a tax filed against me and telling me to call back immediately to pay them or they would arrest me.
I reported it to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration and the FTC. - Jessica EstesFake irs scam. Called them back and I owed $3000. Officer should be reporting any minute now :)
- Call type: Debt collector
- k.k.ballsame robot recording regarding irs and lega case.!
- LauraWell, I guess they're coming to take me to prison!!! Come home from a nice lunch with friends to find the message on my voicemail. I am quite sure the caller ID from an official IRS call (oh, that's right - they don't call!) is "Unknown Name". The unfortunate part of this whole scam is, they really do scare some unsuspecting (usually elderly) people into forking over bank account information. Shame on you, crooks!

- Phantom101Received a call from 1-213-457-3575. Caller id was the phone number. I was out when the call came in and saw the message machine blinking when I returned home. It had the infamous recording from the IRS about a legal case. Deleted the message immediately, checked 800 notes to verify it was THE scam and blocked the number.

- LMAOBy the looks of the reports Judy is busy making threats, maybe that's why her voice sounds so robotic. How dare you scumbags scare my elderly mother. Let's hope the IRS, whom you've been reported to, finds you before I do.

- James WYes this is a scam. I received a similar call yesterday, July 29, on my home phone. The message, from a female, stated that I had a suit filed against me for back taxes and that I needed to comply or be arrested. I laughed when I heard this. First off, It's illegal to make threats like that under the Consumer Credit Protection Act. Secondly, and this I know for a fact for having dealt with the IRS in the past, they will not contact you by phone, only by mail. Thirdly, the IRS doesn't refer to themselves as "officer", they are "Agents". Fourthly, I absolutely know that I do not owe "back" taxes to the IRS on any level so, therefore I know this is a SCAM! I reported this number to the FBI Fraudulent Crime website.
- Call type: Debt collector
- CJI received a voice mail from Officer Judy Smith from the IRS regarding a legal case filed against my name. She stated there is a legal petition notice for taxes. I called back and Officer Kevin Peterson, badge # --------- stated that there is a warrant for my arrest for back taxes. He asked when was the last time I filed my taxes. I googled the number and made him aware that it was a scam. He abruptly hung up the phone.
- Caller: Fake Department of Treasury
