calling to be bothering people

The caller spoke Spanish and only Spanish. I said that I didn't understand her, and I hung up. I was concerned by the call because I have extended family in Honduras and wasn't sure if it was someone calling on their behalf. I still have no idea.

A lady speaking Spanish with an accent that sounded like she's from Peru or Chile, somewhere in South America. She was overly polite and friendly wanted to know my name before she said anything. First time she called I thought it was one of my friends but then she said she was calling from the Centro de Ayuda Latino and my phone started to act up so I just hung up. SHe called again the two days later, same lady, said her name but I forgot, I said I'm not interested in whatever you are selling then she said she wasn't selling anything she was from the center blah blah. I just hung up. I would like to know who is behind this and how do they know I speak Spanish. I tried calling back and got a message saying "mailbox full". Looked the number up and shows it's from Los Angeles, CA but unpublished. Does anyone know what this is? It's annoying and freaky.

Very similar thing happend to me and my wife today.  The call to my cell phone was pretty quick.  Very polite person on the other end, but would not give any information until I gave my name. So, I preceded to speak only English and she hung up on me.  Not a minute later my wife received the same call.  My wife refused to give any information and hung up.  Minutes later the woman called back asking why we hung up.  Once my wife started asking more questions the women then hung up.  The caller ID on my phone only says California.

Same thing happen to me yesterday this lady called and I couldn't hear what she was saying she hanged up then she called me back from a different phone number saying Centro de Ayuda Latina I started to speak she asked my name and I told who you want to talk to? she hunged up on me.
the 2nd phone number is 603-349-1234 the first phone number was 213-596-0318. how did she know that I speak spanish?

recibi una llamada de centro de ayuda latina sobre un programa para aprender ingles, me pidio mis datos y yo se los di la verdad me parecio muy raro queria colgar pero me daba pena. nose siento algo de temor por aber confiado y nose que hacer.

Not sure how these people get other peoples phone numbers, but its annoying and with all of the identity theft and fraud out there, it can only leave you wondering what they want. I didn't answer, but I had a 3minute voicemail on my cell phone!

me llamo una peruana que se ace llamar berta rivas tenga mucho cuidado es muy comvencete al avlar y te avla de un programa del gobierno para una amistia te da supuestamente un numero de caso para que no te puedan deportar a tu pais de origen mentiras si fuera sierto lla medio mundo lo sabria ya que uviese salido en las noticias mucho OJO este es el supuesto numero de la compania 18664394976 y 2135960911 fraude, fraude.

Recibí una llamada del Centro de Ayuda Latina, para unas clases en linea de inglés, el diploma lo extiende la UNIVERSAD DASER DE LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA; pero investigué y no existe esa universidad.

Insisten mucho y piden datos personales.

They called first from an UNKNOWN number. Identified as calling from Centro de Ayuda Latina and requested my name in Spanish. I told them that since they were calling me they should know my name and refused to answer. I asked politely to remove my number of their list since my number was on the DO-NOT-CALL list and hang up.
They called again to tease me and said that I could do nothing to them. I hang up again.
They called again to insult me.
Finally they called from another number: 323-908-8305. I started answering in English and nobody answers but you can hear a room full of telemarketers.
So far they have called from this number 3 more times. I am Latino too but these people are a bunch of thugs who wants to steal your identity or extort poor immigrants who do not speak English. They will burn in hell.

yo resibi hoy 04-01-2010 un mensaje dode me proponian un curso de ingles o ayuda latina, yo muy convensido di mis datos personales pero ahora no se que hacer no me siento seguro de aquel dicha propuesta.

Mira obviamente uno debe ser educado y hablar con propiedad, pero especialmente con la gente que lo merece; pero en estas ocaciones es cuando sacar el lenguaje soez y las palabras antisonantes, que en este caso estan mas que justificadas para esa gente que desgraciadamente no puedes hacerles mas que defenderte con palabras ( asi como ellos te quieren estafar con sus palabras), nimodo nos obligan a usar el lenguaje coloquialles, debes decir esto:
 Diles que se vallan mucho a [***] que los pario!!! que se pongan a trabajar hasta [***] que ese negocio es mas respetable y digno que de estafador!!! exactamente con esas palabras y sin titubear.  Antes de que te enreden en sus pinches mentiras. Primer paso se las rayas feo.. pero feo guey que hasta sus abuelos (que si son como estos pendejos les llegue la metada de madre hasta al infierno); despues si les diste tu direccion retalos a que vallan directamente a tu casa a pedirte el dinero, que los vas a estar esperando con un juguetito de plomo.
 Y si te siguen llamando y no tienes fuerza de voluntad para ponerteles al brinco, nadamas no les contestes aunque te dejen sus mensajes de voz de 5 minutos; tarde o temprano se van a hartar de llamar. Por cierto si eres ilegal y te dicen que te van a mandar a la migra (obviamente tambien es mentira ya son patadas de ahogado, porque no les hiziste caso) les dices: que te [***], que te hacen un favor corriendote de este pinche pais, que no te aguitas que te manden todo lo que les venga en gana. A mi me estaban hablando y nomas hize mi reporte y si sintieron que cagaban pa dentro cuando les dije que ya habia reportado su fraude a la FTC y no me volvieron a marcar.  Me dejaron un mensaje que si no me comunicaba con ellos me hiban a mandar a la migra a mi casa a hacer una orden de cateo; entonces si me cague de la risa.... JAJAJAJAJA llame y les dije: me cago en [***] que te pario, yo soy residente legal tu y la migra me la paso por los huevos, asi que te estare esperando...... Y ese fue el fin. Todos vivieron felices para siempre. Esos pendejos mientras sigan vivos, porque cuando mueran se va a pudrir en el infierno por holgazanes.

ami me llamo una vieja que decia llamarse dana o ana hernandez lo q se me hiso raro es que me marco de un telefono particular ella dice trabajar para el centro hispano te inviata que tomes unos cursos de ingles y deja pasar un tiempo y te dice que saliste sorteado y que pagues 500 dolares te pasa a la directora del supuesta organisacion pero un dia yo escuche a ninos chillando y peleando y por logica pense que que estaba en una casa despues piden dATOS para mandarte el paquete y te pasan hasta a la senora del correo con la que te lo van a mandar pero les fallo en mi pais que es mexico esto se vive mas a diario y con gente que es mas inteligente para enganarte no estos que son un poco estupidos pero ojo que no los enganen
