I just received one of those IRS scam robocalls from this number asking that I call a number to discuss.  Exact same message as I've received before from other numbers.

My 94 year old father just received one of these calls saying he owes $20K and for him to contact his attorney as soon as possible. My elderly father does not need $20,000!!!! Something really needs to be done aboutthese scams!!!

Just called my home number at 11:20am EDT.

It was a female robotic voice claiming that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was filing lawsuits against me and that I should call them back.

TOTAL SCAM !

Remember folks the IRS will NEVER call cold call you. they will ALWAYS contact you via registered mail.

Just got a voicemail claiming a lawsuit from IRS from this number.

It was a female robotic voice claiming that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was filing lawsuits against me and that I should call them back.

I also received a call from this number "warning" me that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me.  I attempted to return the call and the call did not go through due to "heavy call volume".  I have no issues with the IRS.  This is a total scam.

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
