- JoeI have gotten several phone calls from this particular number: 214-506-7156. The call comes from Seagoville, Texas. The company is West Asset Management, as far as I can ascertain. They have called me on several different occasions, and each time I ignored the call, because I didn't recognize the number on the caller id. Yesterday, 26 January 2011, and today, 27 January 2011, I received their calls again. This time they came at 0815hrs and 0802hrs. Both times they left a message asking for someone who was the previous tenant to my apartment. This individual has not lived in this apartment for over a year and a half. My phone number was obtained newly from quest and is no way associated with the individual they are attempting to contact. It never was, in fact I have never met the individual they are trying to contact. Based on this, I contacted them the afternoon of the 27th and requested they no longer call me. The individual seemed rather unenthusiastic to comply, however in the end he stated they would remove me from the list. Being rather skeptical of his cooperation, I contacted the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC are the governing body over the National Do Not Call List. Because this call was not a solicitation they suggested calling the Colorado District Attorney's office. Once in contact with them, they answered that since this was not yet considered a "harassing" call and since they do not initiate the investigation, then I was to contact my local authorities. I called the Colorado Springs Metropolitan Police non-emergency number, and they were more than happy to resolve my problem. Since I am not the one the company is attempting to contact, and I have nothing to do with them, I have made arrangements that if they contact me tomorrow, I will notify the authorities, and a Police Officer will make a phone call to the company on my behalf.
Concerning some of the blogs I have read: In the state of Colorado a citizen may contact the company itself with an official letter dictating the relationship you and the company are to have. In the letter you can tell them what times they can call you, what payment arrangements you are going to make with them, and the way they are to treat you. Remember there is no debtors prisons in the United States of America. They can only threaten you will proper legal action, as long as you are not complying with them. Even a $15 to $20 monthly payment shows you are attempting to alleviate any debt you owe. Be sure to maintain copies of all communications with the company. One last thing: To the best of my knowledge in the state of Colorado as long as one party is aware that the conversation is being recorded it is legal. That means as long as the individual calling you knows you are being recorded then it is legal. I am not familiar with Federal law regarding this. However, if they lie about your conversation being recorded, then it is illegal.- Caller: West Asset Management

FDCPA does not permit collection calls more than once a day. If getting more than on call it's called harrassment. Bang, bang...make my day idiots!!!

When I answer they asked me if I speak Spanish if I say no they hang up I said yes one time just to keep them on the phone and asked them not call me anymore and they hung up on me! This is annoying and tired of all these calls on a daily basis from numerous companies. It's insane we have to put up with this mess...do not answer the calls if I'm not familiar with the number. If it is an important call, they can leave a message.
