- irritatedI knew it was a scam right out of the gate so I made a threat to their office. Then I proceed to say that since I threaten federal agent I'll be waiting for the FBI to show up at my door. I'm still waiting. I also told them they were going to hell and would not be getting 72 virgins. To this comment I got an angry reaction and was told to go [***] myself. Proof positive they are degenate low life's trying to scam hard working people.

- penguinSame as everyone above. Except towards the end he asked me if I was from China and I asked him why is that relevant information to the IRS and he said that I have an American accent my last name is Chinese. Ugh. Not only is this scammer terribly unethical but he's trying to target Chinese people now?! He probably wants to find recent Chinese immigrants and scare them so that they can give him money. I'm also reporting him.

- BrianTwo calls in two days time. Left messages both times saying there was a claim against me and I needed to call them back. First of all, the IRS only interacts with you via US mail and if anyone calls saying there's a lawsuit against you, they have to provide more information than simply saying "you need to call us for information regarding this claim against you," like a case # or a court name. After doing a reverse # lookup, it came back to a cell phone in Cleveland Ohio. Just block the number and don't bother with these fools.
- Caller: Claimed to be the IRS
- Tonya (Mount Airy, NC)Received a call stating that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me... but it was a pre recorded message with the number and I was to call this number back, however when I called it back, it said the caller was unavailable to take my call at this time! I am so glad I checked the number out bc I was so confused as to why the IRS was calling my phone and what this was about!!!!!!!

- Kim| 1 replyNow they have dropped the Indian accent and sound more like Siri telling you the IRS has filed a lawsuit against. Seriously, how can this be stopped?

- CWG40 replies to TKSNo. They cannot be stopped. The US can't do anything since they are located in India and Pakistan. The local governments do nothing.

Invest in a call blocker and do not pick up on numbers you do not recognize. - HarveyThis automated message about an IRS filing a Law Suit is as obvious as a Scam can get. I love to get into it with this Scum. I have a Mute function on my phones that sends all calls to my Voice Mail, Saves a lot of answering unwanted calls.
Fooled around with this group from Friday 1/29/16 through Monday 2/1/16.
Called the 216-376-0417 (Cleveland Ohio area) got a voice mail that said the Agent was not available, call back.
Got a call from 206-899-8562 (Seattle WA.) finally got an "Agent", Yep, he had a heavy Middle East accent asked for him to call back with all the IRS information. Still waiting!. .- Caller: IRS Agent
- NY State's rural Southern TierI received calls from this number on 1-29-16. I don't answer phone calls from numbers I don't recognize, so this message was left on my voicemail: "This call is officially a final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Services. The reason for this call is to inform you that IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number: 216-376-0417."
I did not bother calling back since it is obviously a scam. First clues: Note that the message says the call is from "IRS, Internal Revenue Services" -- if you're not listening carefully, you may miss the obvious mistakes: (1) The government office they're pretending to be is the US Treasury Department's Internal Revenue Service (NOT Internal Revenue "Services"), (2) We commonly refer to this office as "The IRS" (rather than just "IRS"), and (3) With all of the media attention regarding scams, we should all know by now that the IRS does not make threatening/harassing telephone calls.
To report this (or other) IRS-related scams to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) go to https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml.
To officially report scams to the TIGTA, you will need to give the date of the incident, how you were contacted (email, fax, mail, mobile phone, landline, or in person), how the impersonator identified him/herself, the phone number from which they contacted you, the number(s) you were directed to call, and whether you suffered any financial loss. You must also provide your name and contact info, in case they need additional info. Note that you will also create a personal PIN number, which you should also write down/remember. They strongly advise that, "In the event a TIGTA Special Agent contacts you about your complaint, please request the personalized PIN for confirmation. Please take caution if the person does not know the PIN."
The TIGTA reporting page also has links to a press release describing Impersonation scams and to a list of some of the suspected phone numbers used by these scammers. I presume that these phone numbers are those provided by people who actually take the time to submit a report -- more reason for all of us to follow through on filing an official report, in addition to posting our experiences on 800notes.com and other such websites.- Caller: IRS (Not "The IRS"), Internal Revenue "Services" (instead of "Service"
