216-744-1132

Have received four calls from this number, and only the last one (called today) left a message.  The message sounded like a girl who was on some type of drug calling (no seriously).  No sentences made sense, just garbled words strung together.  Talked about throwing pancakes in a lake.  

They did refer to me by name in their message, but my voicemail has my says my name during the message.  

Called the number back and receive a message saying "Thank you for calling customer service... if you would like your number removed, please enter the number... etc.".  I entered my number and the message said that my number would be removed from their call list within two business days.

The message that I heard when I called this number never said who the company was or who they represented.

I posted this on another page for a different number, but it was the same company...

Recently my hubby reactivated our newspaper subscription due to a payment mishap.  A few days later got a call from this number.  Later that night got another call from the same company (caller name was the same), but from 216-744-1132. They called the next day from the 216 number asking how the paper was and then went into a sales pitch!

I told hubby to hang up because that was shady and I had already informed him of what I've read on this site.

No message, just silence 10:51 am

Call to my cell phone, but my battery was drained so the phone powered off as I picked up. No message left, looks like.

Received three more calls from this number.  No message left.  They said two business days to remove my number from their "calling list".  So by Wednesday I shouldnt receive anymore calls... we shall see.

I too received a missed call from this number at 5:42pm on Oct 15, 2007.

I also subscribed to a newspaper recently (actually last Sunday there about)
and now I get a call from this mysterious number.

Looks like others are perplexed as well.

This number stems from somewhere in Cleveland, Ohio.

i keep getting calls from this number as well with no voicemail left. recently subcribed to my city's newspaper as well so maybe that has something to do with it.

Same story.  Just subscribed to local paper and now I'm receiving calls from this number.  No voicemail left.

Ditto.  I also just subscribed to the paper and have received several calls from this number.  The caller ID also says:  "Verification FR" in addition to the number.  No message is left.

Looks like they do some sort of follow-up for newspapers. I recently took on a trial subscription of the SF Chronicle; these folks were calling to make sure delivery had started, and to accept my payment by credit card. I explained I was on a free 30-day trial only, the caller said thanks for subscribing and that was it.

Same here. It's a CA paper, so why Cleveland?

I also have been receiving calls from this number, without messages. And, I have recently subscribed to the SF Chronicle. How did other people subscribe? In my case, a kid was going door to door asking for donations to his high school athletics program. I gave him $15 and filled out a Chronicle subscription form. I have been receiving the newspaper, but also have been receiving those weird calls. How did other people who are having this problem subscribe? Could this have been a scam?

I have been receiving these phone calls too. A guy came to my apartment and i filled out some newspaper thing and gave him my phone number. Is there anyway to block this phone number?

They called 2x today, but I won't pick up.

I re-subscribed to the Houston Chronicle through their web site about 2 weeks ago.  Even though the delivery hasn't started, I've received a call from this number.  They didn't leave a message and the caller id identiied the caller as Verification FR.  I'm wondering if agreeing to the subscription actually gave this company permission to call me despite the fact that I'm registered on the National Do Not Call List.  Instead of calling the 216 number, I'm going to complain directly to the newspaper.

I also recently subscibed to a discounted 6 month trial of the SF Chronicle and have been getting the same missed call everyday at the same time.  Has anyone ever found out how to stop it?

Did anyone ever actually get the number to stop calling?

VERIFICATION FR 216-744-1132 called me 10/20/07 10:54 am.  Tina said she was from Telephone Directory Information Services and asked if this was the C____ household.  I told her, "You should know.  You're the one that called here."  She then asked if I could give her the 5 digits on the last phone book delivered to my house.  I told her no.  
What the heck is this all about?
Search indicates this is Cleveland, Ohio, number.
