Calling my cell phone at 9:00 at night. Dirty dogs. I work in a call center, and we observe the rules for call times on current customers. Just because someone SOLD you thier customer list, doesn't create a preexisting business relationship. When the call was not related to current business, I stress CURRENT business, then it is unsolicited.

Telemarketers that make the calls are not to blame, they are woking a job. It is the fault of the policy-setters, their managers. Those are the ones responsible for the lack of time-zone awareness and bad call management.

    Julie,
I work in telemarketing and your a idiot! Today the list comes from the company you had a business relationship with. The federal existing business relationship is 18 months. If you ever drop your plan for your stupid "cell phone" you probably purchased at radio shack, you can receive calls for 18 months after your last bill when you canceled. Cell phones are mobile. When you probably moved from Georgia to Alabama you forgot your in a different time zone.

Now I usually don't do business over the phone, but for once I'm happy that these people called me.  The rep I that talked to was courteous and polite, and gave me a great deal on my roadside service, which saved me a lot of money this year.  I'm definately glad that I answered this call!

    The Caller
Yes I am one of the people that pisses of many people from a simple phone call. I did not choose the number that was called, it was automatically called, I just have to speak to who answers. If you are rude it does not help to be removed from the list and if you hang up with out saying anything it doesn't help you either. First you should figure out what the call is about and see if it is something that you are currently a member of before opening your mouth. If you are not the person they are asking for you should get that person and if you don't even live there don't answer the phone it is not your house unless you were told to. Just have some common sense and everything can go accordingly

Make sure you understand the laws that govern the DNC list. Putting your name on the DNC list only stops "cold-calls" meaning calls in which you have no business relationship with the company. Federal law allows telemarketing companies to call customers who have had a business relationship with a company for upto 18 MONTHS AFTER. That means if you cancel a service, they can still call you a year and a half later; even if you are on the DNC list. Also telemarketers are still allowed to call if you make an inquiry on a service. AS for leaving messages; now that is against the law! Before you make invalid arguments; using what you may think is logic; learn to research. Ignorance is not an excuse!

If you want my personal number so you may call me when you please and "harrass" me; you are simply doing what you are preaching against. When stupid telemarketers call me; I give them a hard time. When someone with a brain calls me; I give them a couple moments of my day and if I don't want their service or product I kindly ask them to not call again. It's simple. HOw about this; I'll give you my number if you agree to come and work at a telemarketing firm and have to deal with your kind.....

    Get a real job!?!?!

Define a real job. Are you implying this is a "imaginary" job. We just pretend to work. We chose to work at telemarketing places because we just get a huge joy; when we deal with crabby people....seriously....Make some sense...I must say though; telemarketing isn't really as bad as people think. I've learned 1000s of extremely important skills when it comes to communication and sales. Also there is alot of unknown potential in the field of marketing. It's a good place to get your feet wet.

Oh, and by the way....have you looked at the economy lately? We are still standing strong! Chrysler is going to fold! But Tele Resources just become a 5,000 Inc. You tell me who has a real job!
