I don't know who this is but they've been calling my office phone.

Call came in from Sallie Mae Home Loans requesting to speak with the homeowner. Caller states that he would like to speak to the owner about his mortgage through the company. Our Mortgage was originally through Sallie Mae but was sold off well over a year ago. Rep says the loan is through us in which I stated "I write my check to someone else each month, believe me -- it is not through Sallie Mae" in which the guy replies, I will call the owner back later and hangs up.

Not sure who it is, but they call me daily and leave no message. I think it may be related to a mortgage company, because husband and I have been mortgage loan hunting. That's when the calls started.

I just recieved a phone call from this number. The guy said that Sallie Mae has recently branched off into the mortgage industry. He knows that i was looking for a mortgage.  This makes me nervous.  I hung up on him when he put me on hold. He called back, but i didn't answer.  I would like to know how he got my information including my cell phone number.

Called this morning.  ID said call was from Michigan.  Didn't leave a message.  I've also just started house hunting and went to two banks for approval of credit/loan ....

They have been calling me 3 times a day.  Say from "Sallie Mae" not Sallie Mae home loans.  Trying to trick me into calling them back to think it's about one of my student loans.  

They called for 6 days (3x per day) and only just left a voicemail.

I have also just started applying for a mortgage and that's when my calls started too. This number has been calling me as well three times a day for the past three weeks and never leaves a message. I finally answered today and the person said they were calling about refinancing my student loans with Sallie Mae. I asked for a number to call them back and the first person wouldn't give me one and transfered me to a second person. She then gave me 1-800-226-6308. When I Googled this number it belongs to Quicken Home loans. I have no idea if it is affiliated with Sallie Mae in any way but I doubt that it is. I told them that I asked because I heard the number was a scam and the person didn't have much to say so who knows.

The calls began on March 29 and I have received 4 calls and no messages. I have no idea who it is.

I've also recieved calls from this number.  Calls began on 3/28/08 (twice on that day!) and once more on 3/31/08.  My husband and I have literally JUST started looking for homes (within the last two months) and I'm wonderingn now if the REALTORS have handed out my cell phone number because we've only dealt with two realtors so far, one from Century 21 and the other from Signature Properties of Huntington (ny), who could possibly have my personal cell phone number. My husband & I have also talked to Wells Fargo in the last week or so but I don't believe they have my cell.  We almost always use the landline # when going to open houses, etc, to avoid cold calls on the cell.  You know, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure Realtors are handing out our phone numbers because I can't tell you how many calls I've gotten on the house phone from random mortgage companies I've never heard of nor contacted.  If that's the case, that REALLY worries me/p*sses me off because who else are they giving my information to??

My husband and I also just started house hunting. We got pre-approved for a loan on Wed. and the calls from this number to my cell phone began on Thursday! The weird thing is that the loan company we were dealing with didn't even get my cell phone number! The realtor doesn't have my cell either.

Talked to a bank (Southern Community) on Monday about getting a loan--got a call from this number on Thursdsay.

They called twice in three day period.  I did not answer nor did they leave a message. I returned the call and got an automated system indicating they are Sallie Mae home financing through Quicken loans. I bought a house over 6 motnhs ago and have not applied for any other financing. They had no reason to market me.

Sallie Mae *is* affiliated with Quicken home loans. We too have just started house hunting (only just talked to our bank about a home loan a few days ago and got pre-approved) and we've already gotten three calls from this number.

We called the Sallie Mae number on the website to verify, and Sallie Mae *is* connected to this number. The calls (though annoying) are legitimate. If you want to be 100% sure, call the number 1-800-701-9833 and verify the name and extension of the person you talked to.

I just applied for a loan for new windows on our house the other day then this morning I get an email from Sallie Mae/Quicken Loans about mortgages.  Then I got a call from this number so this makes sense that is would be from them.  I have my student loans through Salle Mae but thats it.  They must have gotten my info from the window company.  Scary to think that your info can get passed around that quickly!

I just pre-qualified for a loan on Friday and these calls started today (Monday).  Does anyone know how to make it stop???

Most of this information is being sold by the credit bureau's. As soon as you apply for any kind of credit they turn around and sell your info to anyone wanting to pay for it.
