Just received a message from phone number 252-216-2342 saying they need to verify my address for a package that they needed to deliver, and wanted me to call so they can reschedule my delivery.  I asked them who the shipper was and they told me that it was actually regarding a payday loan that I had taken out several years ago.  This is absolutely not correct!!  They said they will have a locator track down my new address and send a subpoena and i would have to go to court.  I told them go ahead, because they will have to prove it via documentation, that DOES NOT EXIST.

Don't respond to their phone calls or messages as they are a scam debt collector looking for your information; I looked up this phone number online under the white pages, and it belongs to a cell#, not a business.  I also cannot find this phone number under the BBB in North Carolina; if you are located in another state, that is even more of a red flag because why would someone call you about delivering something in the first place, let alone miles away in another state.  My guess is that they got your information from somewhere and are trying to get people to pay on old paid off pay day loans or on loans that don't even exist.  I reported this phone number along with a few other numbers that they have called under to the FTC and DNC listing along with blocking them with my phone provider.

This company called me in regards to a loan I received awhile back. They told me I was being sued by the financial lending institution. I read some notes that they are a scam so I blocked them and ignored all notification. I then received a notice of intent telling me I was being served. I thought they were a scam and now I have lost all chances to resolve this because its too late. I would have been better off not listening to all the comments I read. I also found out that the expedited courier services covers over 18 states so just because they don't call from a local location to you does not mean its a fraud

Okay Sarah's Sorry, You say you have been served.  So who is 252-216-2342?  I have been receiving phone calls from them for quite some time now.  I have requested, several times in fact, that the paperwork they have be served.  I live in a rural area and asked they serve me on my JOB, which tells you how sure I am that I do not owe anyone money and do not fear going to court.  I have yet to be served, but continue to get the calls.  The number they call me from changes from time to time and I go online to check for comments when they call me from a new number, which is what I did today.  You are the only person that has commented that you were actually served and I find that curious.  The gentleman that called me today from this number was Chris Thompson, but I was transferred to Laura Banks who said she is a paralegal that works for the attorney assigned to my case.  I was not allowed to speak with the attorney.  Ms. Banks said that is not the way things are done.

I also have been getting these calls. I intact spoke w Chris Thompson today myself. He says they are the litigations department for Advance America. I'm still leary that they are a fraud. I have 21 od in full letters on a loan I tookout 5 yrs ago this month. I'm out thousands over the years. I've provided them with the letters but he says none say Advance America. I'm tired of paying everyone who calls looking for a hand out & not working for it like I do. I'm doing more research before I agree to any settlement. This is just obsurd. Frustrated. Call came from +1 (252) 216-2342

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They have no relevant information on their contact page.  The BBB in Va has this listing a B- rating with 163 complaints:

Read up on your rights.  Never ever pay a debt collector based on a phone call.  they are required to mail you validation by US mail.  Not e mail, fax, or even smoke signals.  If they fail to do that, then they are criminals attempting to extort money.
If you have not been asking for written validation by mail and just paying, then you are on their list and they will keep calling as long as you are paying.  Sorry but that is tjust simply a cold hard fact.

So what you are saying is that they followed these rules and you ignored them?
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

And what exactly is a notice of intent?  Either you are served with court papers detailing the civil complaint, the plaintiff, the court and the judges name or you weren't.  No one is sent a letter of intent.  It means nothing.  What is the name of this "expedited courier service"?   What is the name of the plaintiff and their physical address?  Since this reveals no personal information it should not be a problem to post it, unless of course you simply work for this bunch of criminals and are trying to coerce people into believing your extortion plot is real.
