These folk's are not legitimate, they are in not in US, some where in India, do not give them any info; it is total scam.

Finally answered after several days of being harassed by this number. I am legitimately in collections so I figured it could be related to that. Got a recording immediately saying they were the IRS filing a lawsuit and I was supposed to call their "department" back for more info  which was a major red flag, plus the grammar/language of the recording was slightly off so I immediately searched the number which brought me here. Don't answer this call. It's a scam.

It is a scam (a lie). Ignore them and do not answer unknown calls.

There are numerous telephone and email scams in which individuals claim to be employees of the Treasury Department. These scammers often state that they are from the “Department of Legal Affairs,” offer grant money in exchange for you wiring a small payment, or threaten to arrest you within a short period of time unless payment is made. Do not provide personal information or payment to these individuals.  Their actions are crimes under Titles 18 and 31 of the United States Code, and the Treasury Office of Inspector General is working to stop them.

If they claim to be from Treasury, report  it to OIGCounsel@oig.treas.gov with a description.  If it was a phone contact, include:
the exact date and time that you received the call(s)
the phone number of the caller
the geographic location and time zone where you received the call
a description of the communication.

Rcvd a call stating I was being sued by the IRS and needed to call back immediately

IRS will not call you, they will send a certified letter.

This person called and left an voicemail that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me and that I should call this number to get more information about it.  Meanwhile, this person did not even identify themselves by giving a name.

They called and threatened me and all that so I have called back 6 times with different voices asking them not to take me to jail and every time I ask how much money they want me to send them and they say that they can't give me any info unless they have my treasury file up so I give them fake names every time and the amount never changes its always 3000 next up is to act like one of them owe me money for me talking to them

The telling me I had fraud in my taxes since 2011 up to 2015 then ask me to pay 3,2400 to them to resolve not going to court

This number keeps calling and harassing me saying they're the IRS. They have a heavy Indian accent and are trying to scam people for their information. TheIRS will never call you asking for personal information so be careful and block this number
