Called claiming to be from Microsoft and that there was a virus in my area.  Then wanted me to download software that would give them control of my PC so they could show me the Malicious Virus on my computer.  When I claimed a friend worked for Microsoft and I would call them about it, the person was shaken, then became irate and began telling me I must do what he asked if I wanted to be safe. I laughed at the guy and told him to give me his name and the name of his company, the phone grew silent and when I asked if he was still there, heard someone in the background tell him to hang up.  I called the number back and they were brazen enough to answer and insist they were representatives for Microsoft and I had to give them control of my PC or I would be sorry.  After telling them that I needed to call my friend from Microsoft again and asking his company name three times, he claimed it was PC to PHONE.  My guess is that they wanted access to my machine to virus it themselves.

got an unofficial sounding call from these same folks.  Did not sound at all like i would espect, because when i returned the call, a man just answered "Hello". Almost like he forgot that he worked for a microsoft company...
