They said they are from the United States Government of public health and they wanted to give me a free grant of $7800. It seems like a scam. I'm trying to get more information on it. The First time I called, they himg up on me. When I first spoke to them about the money, they said it was $800 and then it got changed to $7800. Third, the person wasn't an American but was using an American name with the most common last name possible. Fourth, where ever she worked did not sound like a government office but rather the New York stock exchange.

Seriously, the "United States Government of public health " and that alone wasn't enough to convince you that this is a scam?

Grant scams:

The government does not call people up and offer them free money because you paid your taxes on time, have never been arrested, have paid all your bills, or whatever excuse they can make up.  In order to get a grant you need a valid reason (not one of the above and not just because you need money), you have to fill out tons and tons of paperwork, wait a long time, and might not even get the grant in the end.  If you are lucky enough to get the grant after all that paperwork, they do not ask you to pay taxes, transfer fees, or any other types of fees.  Also, please note that the government would never ask you to pay these so called taxes or fees to some anonymous person using Western Union, Moneygram, or any of the cards such as iTunes cards which is a new favorite among foreign scammers.

they just called me and got mad when I told them it was a scam.

They call me and said the same thing gave me another number I call it non working number call the first number back non working number the guy said his name was Simon

I got a call saying the government had a free grant no taxes and its from treasury then it gave me another number to call 253-243-9660 guy named Gregory answered and wanted me to send $250 in iTunes I told him I called treausury and he told me to call them on 3way so I'm confused .... Scam or no scam?????

They told  me  7800 I asked what  the  catch  was  having Applied for  grants  before  when  I called  the  253 number I was told  to  get  something  refundable  like 250 worth of iTunes.

I wish I've looked this number up sooner. I sent off the payment of 250, afterwards they transfer me over to a guy named Lance who ash for another 500. He called me from his personal line, a New York # (516)939-4716. After I sent 500 through ITunes card I did not hear from him anymore. I then waited a couple of days and called the Washington #253-243-9660 to report him and receive a re-fund, The customer serv. lady transfer me to a guy named Shawn Gibson extension 177. He told me that I had to make another payment 750 then I'll receive 10 thousand and something, and I had to use the ITunes card again, that can not be traced. So that's when I came to my sciences to do some research.
