    If all they ask for is a prayer, that is not a scam.  Odds are that somewhere out there is at least one poor girl with siblings and a father in police custody.
    However, if the texter gave you a link to click so you could "make" that prayer, or asked for money so they could pray for you, then it is most likely a scam.  But you give no details about the text other than they asking the recipient to pray.
