Got a phone call "We're from Microsoft. You have a virus. Please go to your computer and follow instructions." When I asked what THEIR phone number was, they said 302-309-9165... who knows if he told the truth about that or not, but the whole call was clearly bogus. After playing with him for a few minutes I got bored and hung up. They called back... I guess they thought they had a live one. Hung up again, no call back.

Got a call from caller ID said unknown caller but he said he was from Microsoft and he was going to help me with my computer, which I had been having trouble with so I went along with him, he had control over my computer and done things and when I asked him he gave me 302-309-9165. Then wanted to charge me, I hung up several different times and he called back 4 times, my husband answered 2-times last time he screamed at him not to call back........very upset my computer will not work now, please don't let this happen to you.

My mother-in-law just got called by the same MS guy around noon today asking for the same thing. Fortunately, she didn't reveal any personal information. I hope no other senior citizens have fallen for this phishing call.

I just got the same call that everyone else has reported &, when I asked for their phone number they gave me this one, too! They said the same as the other complaints listed here &, no, I haven't bothered to call them back either.

I got the same call from a foreigner stating his name was Rex Smith, and he was following up on my computer sending error reports to Microsoft.  He called me by name and asked if I could go to the computer and he would help resolve my problem.  It all sounded very assuring since I have been having a lot of problems lately.He started with a run code and then he took control of my computer.  He said I had over 500 errors  that he could fix.   He may have downloaded all my files but I told him to give me his number and I would call him back that I was busy and could not finish.  He gave me the phone # 302-309-9165 and said that was fine.  I then started researching on my laptop and found this link.  Now I am scared. What can I do?

Your computer is probably hoplessly infected. Take it off the internet and have somebody competent fix it.

Too bad you can't have somebody fix your brain so you could recognize obvious and well-known scams. Maybe you should just stay off the internet and stop answering the phone altogether.
