A man (and later a woman) called and said the business I work for placed an online ad in 2009 and never paid the bill.  I am the only person who handles advertising and said "no we did not" and then I politely asked them to "take us off your calling list." He started yelling at me saying things like, "You people don't pay your bills" and "you're terrible at your job". He called 12 times in a matter of 30min just yelling into the phone, calling me names.  Then a woman called from a similar number and did the same thing. When I asked that they send the "bill" to our address so I could let our attorney handle the matter they said, "We would rather deal with you".  Hmmm, of course they would.  Of course they don't want an attorney involved.  What a scam.  I called the police and they are investigating it.  I would suggest you do the same.  They are trying to intimidate you into giving them your credit card information....DO NOT fall for it!

Same thing - George Hill from ACDR (American Credit & Debt Recovery Corp) has called several times and threatened to report us to all three credit bureaus.  Same thing with the phantom advertising.  Just another scammer, we are ignoring them.  If you look up ACDR in the BBB online, they have an "F" rating.

This "company", has been harassing my business for two years.  Most recently they have a man call who claims he is from a third party collection agency. He calls several times a week, both on my office phone and my cell phone.  The phone number is always blocked, and the "collection agency" will not send a collection letter with an address (or they could be gotten for mail fraud.)   Initially George HIll sent a false bill from a company supposedly called UBS, claiming that my secretary for my psychotherapy practice had taken out a business to business listing  for our private farm and we had not paid for it, and now had to pay the interest on the unpiad bill as well as the bogus bill.  Initially we traced this fraud back to a Pack and Ship office in Winston N. C. The scam was well known by the local police. Now the guy has moved his location to Delaware. We never do business to business listings for either business entity, and my secretary is not involved in any advertizing decisions. THIS IS A VERY PERSISTANT SCAM.

This initially started out for me as a call from USB back in July 2011.  They  called and asked if  I was "Authorized" to verify our company's name and address for our local business directory. They had all the info including the fax. I never authorized them for any advertising.
After that a bill came over the fax for 474.95. I told them that I didn't authorize the charge. The rude person on the other end "Andrew" stated that I did to and I was recorded and they have my authorization and failure to pay, will result me going to collections per the electronic signature act. Really???  I listened to my recording, you can't even hear me, and what you can hear is fabricated. I reported them to the BBB and to the FTC.  I finally told Andrew it was 90 days now and he could go ahead and turn me over to collections. A woman started calling. she called and harassed for about a month, then the calls just dropped all together, until last week... George Hill started calling from American Credit & Debt Recovery Corp, and faxing over nasty grams and the bill..By the way the bill has accrued interest and now I owe this fake company 952.41.  George Hill is very rude and likes to threaten and try to strong arm you on the phone, being that I held a position in collections for a while, he shows none of the approaches or etiquette you are suppose to take. I have never threatened my customers and called then nasty names. BEWARE......Scam!!!!

In for a very rude awakening.....
I too am being harrassed by this George Hill. this has been going on since June 2011!! So far i have reported him, the company ACDR, Corp, and UBS to the BBB, the FTC, the Attorney General and it is now in the hands of the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection. I spoke with them this morning and he assured me that this is a scam (i knew it but he has confirmed it) send any and all information such as emails, faxes etc to them and to the attorney generals office. They will be investigating them and I believe that the more people we have to throw the book at this company the better! I am so done with dealing with this monster.

I also found out that a Randall Keirl owns both UBS and ACDR, Corp.

    He just never stops!
George Hill has been calling and faxing me almost everyday for over a month. I think he keeps calling because at first he tried to cut a deal if I paid right then with a credit card--instead of paying over $1,000 he said he'd accept $700. I then put him on hold and told him I was going to talk to the owners of our company. I ended up calling our attorney who told me not to worry about it and that I should ask for an invoice to be mailed. When I asked George Hill to mail me the information, he rudely said, "This isn't the 1800s". Then he said I should get a new attorney because mine didn't know what he was talking about and that's when I hung up on him. He called right back and I was told "Matthew" was on hold for me. When I picked up, he immediately said, "Matthew is my middle name. This is George Hill". He emailed me the recording and he/they must've doctored it because we would never sign up for what "the company ACDR bought the debt from" is(?) selling! Another call today followed by two faxes threatening to report us to all 3 credit bureaus... Next time he calls I'm picking up the phone to tell him I know his game and that I've reported him to the BBB and the attorney general!!! :)

    Faxes don't stop
I get daily faxes from him and everytime its just the same thing.  I have filed complaints with the BBB and the Attornery General and both have said they cannot do anything because the alleged debt is for a commercial transaction.  Has anyone been successful getting the phone calls and faxes to stop?

    THIS MAN IS A MONSTER!
This man is a horrific, despicable, pathetic excuse for a human being. I have been in business for over 30 years and I have never spoken to someone that gets under my skin as much as George Hill. I SPENT over $9000 in legal fees trying to get rid of this and it did not help one bit. I complained to the BBB and the attorney general, but they did absolutely nothing. According to them, everything this company is doing is “legal”. This is what happens when companies get more rights than people. I wasted money on five different lawyers and they all told me the same thing. Bottom line is there is nothing anyone can do about this company. I guess this is why companies like this exist in the first place. Finally, after two long years, I cut a deal with the company and paid them yesterday. If there is any piece of advice I can give to other people going through the same thing is pay off this bogus s**t as soon as possible. I am saddened to say sticking to my principles was not worth the amount of money wasted and the damage to my credit rating. If you’re anything like me, even thinking about paying this man makes your teeth grind, but rest assured there is a special place in hell for this individual. Hope this helps.

I am not part of the company. I was simply providing advice as well as my experience with this company. You can believe what you wish and do anything you want. If you don't want to pay them, then don't pay them. From the way you replied three times in I can see your frustration. I understand how angry you are because I was at the same position you were in. Trust me, if I ever find this man, there will be a funeral home that will make a little money. If you have any better solutions or any methods of getting rid of this company, by all means share your knowledge with the rest of us!

These are the messages I get in my email daily: Pay your debt. Pay your Invoice. I am uneducated, ignorant, stupid. The faxes say these things as well. George Hill has even re written his fax cover page to attack my intelligence.  USB,George Hill, and ACDR are all scams. HE can keep on harassing, HE claims he will damage our credit if we don't pay, and that he reports us daily. FUNNY nothing is showing up. The [***] doesn't even have the proper name the business is under. HE needs to be educated.
Here are some of the examples of the harassment I get daily:

My story is the same.  Our company received a fraudulent claim for services rendered from UBS, Inc.  Then the faxes and calls from George Hill at ACDR started coming in, they're pretty harassing.  One day, after I hung up on him three consecutive times, he suggested that I not come to work while I'm menstruating- George is one classy guy.  I filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, and VA Attorney General's Office; it hasn't done much yet to curb contact, but it's worth having the harassment documented.  My only qualm is the amount of time I have to waste responding to ACDR's responses to my original BBB complaint against them.  Since we've been unable to stop the calls, my coworkers and I have begun coming up with inventive ways for responding to George's calls, such as humming classic Nick at Night theme songs into the phone (I think he likes I Dream of Genie best), placing him on hold for extended periods of time with terrible hold music, asking inane questions (Why is the sky blue?), and playing the why game (Why? Why? Why?).  George is pretty persistent, and if you can't get rid of him, you can at least have some fun.

Sounds like you made some pretty poor financial decisions, in submitting to a completely bogus extortionist.  Generally, when I make a big mistake, I don't advise other people to repeat my actions.  In a sense, you're sort of as bad as George, assuming you're not George himself.

So Georgie-Boy definitely monitors this site, he's called me about 20ish times today, and specifically referenced the comments I made here.  He said as my blood pressure rises, his calls will become damaging to my health, and I should just pay-laughable!  However, now that I realize his attempts to collect are totally BS, and his ability to damage my company's credit is non-existent, I don't really mind the calls at all.  I just turn down my ringer volume, and it's actually kind of soothing, like white noise.  At the end of the day, we're both getting paid, and I've started recording our conversations to use in the law suit we'll be bringing against his "company".  Good luck, little Georgie!

I might have to take a trip south and show George how we handle people like him in NH area. If I get one more call from him or BB at UBS, I will take a road trip south and settle this [***] face to face.
