- Jessica replies to SpectraThey probably just made a recorded message saying that. If it was actually disconnected then they wouldn't be able to make calls on that number.
- cc272i too have been getting calls from this # , as for the disconnected message its pretty simple if you have a pc and modem you hook it up and install one many available programs for teleblocking and just insert your own personal wav file, the disconnect one is all over the internet.I have something along those lines set to block any blacklisted #'s i choose and it saves me from having to get up and hear dead air or another phishing scam.

There are people who fall for this kind of trap, especially the elderly. Don't give out personal information to anyone who CALLS YOU! If you have a concern about a credit card (for example) you should call the company - use the customer service number that is on the monthly statement from the company. - Tim| 1 replyAbout once a month they call, identify themselves as "Account Services" and tell me they can lower my credit card interest rate. I've tried everything imaginable to get a real ID from them: I tell them I'm busy and want to call them back (they refuse to give a number), I tell them I want to talk to a supervisor, I ask for a real business name to look them up, et cetera. They always hang up as soon as I get the least bit aggressive. Their number on caller ID is reported disconnected.
- Caller: Account Services (they said)

- Mandy replies to TimIf you don't want these people to call you, go in to www.donotcall.gov and file a complaint. Hopefully this will stop unwanted callers from calling.
- MotherloverCalled a long time ago. Called when I was out. Left no message. I Didn't know the name or number, so I joted it down to check it out. I don't bother answering or returning calls to numbers I don't know. I was just curious as to what would happen when I put the number in Google.
- TMThese criminal telemarketers illegally leave fake information on your Caller ID. The only way to stop them from calling you again and again (using different spoofed Caller ID info each time) is to report them using their real identities. Information on how to do this can be found at the only web site whose focus is to do just that: www.heatherwithaccountservices.com.
- supanup replies to Mister MikeI cancelled my credit card and got a new one. That was the easiest and quickest way I found.
You might also try disputing the charges, but it's a long bumpy road and you may hit a wall! - SOcalGot a call from 407-781-5057. No message was left so I called the number back, a BLACK man answered the phone saying "If you like to lower your credit card rate press 1"... of course I did say a word. He said "Hello, hello" then hangs up.
I have a thought... why don't we all use our modems, fax machines (home or office) and Rightfax for those in Enterprise environments... send blank Faxes to their line so they have to listen to the Fax noise ALL Day long..
I am gonna- Call type: Telemarketer
- Scott Fraser replies to Mister MikeI just received a hang-up call from this number and began checking it out. Turns out it's now assigned to a Florida US Senate political campaign which I've contributed to. The hang-up as accidental.
This use is now legit, but they have the unfortunate luck of having been assigned a telephone number that has a very dubious past.
I advised them of this history, and they said they might call the telephone company and try to get assigned a different number. - inasimplerhymeThese guys have finally been shut down. Read about it here:

Judge Orders Halt to Illegal Robocalls Selling Deceptive Warranties
Today Judge John F. Grady of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois issued a temporary restraining order stopping telemarketing company Voice Touch, Inc., its principals James and Maureen Dunne, its business partner Network Foundations LLC, and Network Foundations principal Damian Kohlfeld from making any further calls in violation of the Do Not Call Registry and other provisions of the Telemarketing Sales Rule and the FTC Act. The FTC filed the case yesterday, charging that the defendants were operating a massive telemarketing scheme that used random, pre-recorded phone calls to deceive consumers into thinking that their vehicle’s warranty is about to expire.
“Today the FTC has disconnected the people responsible for so many of these annoying robocalls,” said FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz. “We expect to see a dramatic decrease in deceptive auto warranty calls, but we are still on high alert.” If consumers continue to receive unsolicited robocalls to numbers on the Do Not Call registry, they should report them to DoNotCall.gov.
In a related matter filed by the FTC, Judge Grady yesterday issued a temporary restraining order against automobile warranty sales company Transcontinental Warranty, Inc., and its CEO and president, Christopher Cowart, who are clients of Voice Touch. In both cases, the court found that the FTC established a likelihood of success on the merits.
The court barred deceptive claims about extended warranties, froze the defendants’ assets, and appointed receivers over Transcontinental and Network Foundations to ensure that documents are preserved and assets are not dissipated. The restraining orders are in effect until a preliminary injunction hearing set for May 29, at which time the judge will reassess what type of relief should remain in place until the case proceeds to trial.
NOTE: The Commission files a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. A complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendants have actually violated the law.
The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC’s online Complaint Assistant or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). The FTC enters complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 1,500 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.
