- Javonia Billings| 1 replyThis company is not giving me their name, they are calling all hours of the day, leaving threating messages such as: the police are coming for me, they will come and arrest me at my play of employment. The threats, the calls all hours of the day, and the calling of extended family is harassment. I've been scammed before and will need all information in writing. They also asked for my social and ID to be faxed - this seems very sketchy and I will not agree to these things. They should reach me by mail.

- DelightSam White and Frank Wilson were the fake names I was given. They told me they notified me via email about a lawsuit and I told them the last time I checked you are notified by registered mail of lawsuits not email you moron. He told me I am being sued for $2000 and I told him to send me the court papers because that is the only way your will get money out of me. They are full of [***].
- Caller: They said US something

- DelightHere is some information that was given to me:
Do You Owe This Debt Collector? Before you decide to pay a debt collector make sure this collector "owns" this debt or has authority to collect it. After a debt is "charged off" many original creditors sell the debt in portfolios to collection agencies. From there, collection agencies sometimes sell the debt over and over. It is not unheard of the see a debt sold six times or more. Before you pay a collection agency make sure that company still owns the debt before you pay. Demand proof the company that contacted you acquired the debt and continues to own it. Further, many large collection agencies, perhaps ironically, recently declared bankruptcy. Before you pay a company in bankruptcy, make sure it still owes the debt and didn't sell it to raise money.
Hang Up The Phone. Keep in mind you do not have to sit on the phone and be abused by a debt collector. This may seem obvious, but most of us are not raised to hang up on anyone. Feel free to hang up on collectors if they become abusive or even if they are not helping you get information. Keep in mind you are paying for your phone line. Presumably you got your phone to receive information and not to be abused or to give out personal information about your employer, social security number etc. It's your phone. Hang it up if the debt collector abuses you or if the collector demands information and provides nothing in return.
What to Do if You're Abused By a Collector
If a debt collector contacts you about a debt, you have a right to dispute the debt either verbally or in writing. If you want to preserve some rights under the FDCPA, you must send a written dispute within 30 days of your receipt of the first "validation notice" from the debt collector. Even if you owe the debt, or you cannot pay, you still have rights under the FDCPA. Most of our clients owe the debt being collected but because of financial circumstances, or a dispute over the goods or services, they cannot pay it. In order to preserve your rights under the law, it's important for you to keep good records of all of the contacts.
Four Important Steps You Can Take to Protect Your Rights as a Consumer
1. Save copies of all letters and notices from collection agencies.
2. Save all phone messages and voice mails--this is very important!
3. Make detailed notes of your conversations with these bill collectors.
4. Call one of our consumer rights attorneys now to help you recover your damages.- Caller: no name given

- GonzalezThey used fake names like John Parker and Eugene Williams. They call me as much as 10 times in one hour leaving very threatening messages saying that the police will get me and that I'm about to be sued. They call for my husband and they call for me saying that my husband illegally used my name for a loan. We never got any loans!!! If either one of us owed money, we would have received a notice from the courthouse in our state and received a notice from a collection ageny, not constant harrassment from some African guy with a very strong accent that I cant even understand that changes his name every other day!
- been thru this beforeJust a heads up...........it is very difficult to stop them from calling, you just need to start watching the calls that you are answering. This has been going on with me for off and on for almost a year. It stops for a while and then it starts again. They are simply trying to find that person that will actually send them money. If anyone understands the legal process..................if they were going to have you arrested they wouldn't tell you first, incase you would run. (and my favorite "download a warrant")...wtf.......who downloads a warrant. They also told me that my family would be arrested as an accessory to theft. IF you listen very closely in the background, you will hear almost the exact same message being played in the background. sometimes in different voices. they also change phone numbers every few times they call you. makes it hard to find them. I actually understood the name of the place they said I owed money too and I called them. They were very surprised that their name was being used in this scam. They checked there systems and I was nowhere in there and they can't even lend in my state. SO if you actually owe money to a lender that can not loan in your state and a collector buys it? you still don't owe the money. The loan was legal...........just a tip off the subject,
HANG UP ON THEM. IGNORE THEM. DON'T ANSWER THEM. DON'T EVEN LISTEN TO THE MESSAGES.- Caller: SCAMMERS
- Sick of it allCalling me again, new month, new number, same old scam....I know it's fake, but it's annoying. I just don't understand why nobody is doing anything about it or at least telling about it in the media.
Court case coming up, you better call me back. Then when you tell them their thieves and scammers and you aren't going to pay them anything ever, they get mad and yell and hang up. But at least they stop calling for a few weeks.- Caller: Legal Services
- TGetting REALLY tired of these freaking people calling me about something I have never had!!!! They will stop for about a week then start calling my phone every two hours. All of this started about two months ago...GO AWAY!!!
- MerylDO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION!!!!! THEY ARE FRAUDS, THEIVES, AND CON-MEN!!!!!! Here is what happened to me today....
I was called by this number twice today and a man named Mark Brown with a very thick accent tells me that I'm being sued for a $300 cash advance loan that I never applied for. He said the money was deposited to my checking account in November 2010 and when they went to withdraw the amount on the day it was due, the account was closed. He insisted that I resolve the matter immediately, but I was driving and couldn't deal with it at the moment. When I argued and told him that I never received or applied for the loan he was speaking of, he got angry, yelled at me that I will be receiving court papers and such in the mail then hung up on me. I called him back when I got home and he had a different accent when he answered the phone. He told me to "hang on", covered the phone WITH HIS HAND and came back with the original accent. When I told him I was home and could take his name, he said "Mark Brown", I asked for the name of the company he works for, he said "Cash Advance". I asked which one, he got angry again and said "Look Lady, do you want to resolve this RIGHT NOW or not?!?!?!" I told him I would like to research it first so I could figure out what was going on and why I am being "sued". He slammed the phone down and hung up on me.
Long story short... It's crap. Don't let them stress you out. Just don't answer any phone numbers you don't recognize.- Call type: Debt collector
- krau11| 1 replyThey keep calling saying they need my ss# for an urgent lawsuit. I'm not part of any lawsuit, and will not give anyone my ss#.
- Caller: unknown
- Pam replies to krau11This is a scam they have bothered me for awhile now. I filed with the police department and the better business bureau. I was told by the police that if they threaten to have you arrested this is against the law. So just tell them you googled their number and it said they are a scam and quit calling. They will call again in a few months and you just tell them that again. They do change their numbers quite often. But for some reason they keep getting away with it but keep in mind they are from India and have a real bad accent and use common names like John Black. But they can't demand money without sending paperwork to you to proof that they have a legitimate claim I was told this by the police department. So tell them to send the paperwork as they should have your address already don't give them any information at all.
Then go to your local police department and file a claim - korn10671I got a lot of calls from these people telling me the same thing i owe them for a loan i did in Jan 2010 on my BofA acct funny thing is i never had a BofA acct in Jan 2010 i told them that and they hung up. They called again said they have proof i asked them to send it to me 4days later i get an email saying i signed up for a loan and i owe this much and i have to pay before they sue me but provided no company name or papers that said i actually applied for a loan. The first time they called me was from a number in FL now it comes up as this number in Malibu and they give u names like Eugene Johnson or David and they all have Indian accents. This is such a scam im now going to report them to the BBB

- HACKERFirst of all , I'd like to introduce myself as a Hacker with a lot of talent and time on my hands.
My Mother was victimized by one of these scammers once, that’s when I decided to put my excess time and talent to reducing the proliferation of these scams and their perpetrators.
If you received a call from these guys then rest assured they already have your information.
The aren't trying to steal your identity they already have it.
How did they get your name and number ?
You filled out an online form for either a pay-day loan , a mortgage, or a car loan.
These scammers operate like a normal business. They may have even paid a legitimate company to provide the leads (your information).
If the information grabbing site was set up by one of these scammers then they will get first crack at the chance to steal your money, so usually if you don't stop them in their tracks the first time, they will continue to sell your information to other scammers.
How to get your name off their list ?
Let them know you know who they are, and keep in mind that we realize that the scammers themselves frequent these boards, so I only provide generalized information, but it should be enough to get your name off their list.
If you are receiving calls from any of these numbers.

Justin Floyd, Justin Crowe, Justin Curl, Kevin Foster, David Parker, and Samantha
None of these names are their real names of course and all of the people calling you are located in India.
The name of the guy that runs that office and the guy that eventually you get transferred to is Mobeen Khan.
According to his phone records he makes a lot of calls to Bareilly, so he either lives there or he goes to school there , or both.
Please fight the urge to Google him there are thousands of Mobeen Khans in this world, and it wasn’t easy finding the right one in a country of a billion people.
He actually comes from a descent middle-class family, except for one of his brothers. Lets not drag them into this just yet.
If you received a call from them , call them and ask for them by their real names, so they feel the same anxiety you felt when they called you. Feel free to threaten to call them back daily if they don’t remove your name from their database.
