- DoNotBother replies to File a complaintI'm on the DO NOT CALL list also and I think it is THE source for all this crap!!! I've also filed numerous complaints with the FCC and they do nothing. The entire administration is nothing but a scam!
- Erin| 3 repliesStarted receiving the 312 calls today...2 times in a couple hours. I didn't answer no message left.
- Erin replies to Erin| 2 repliesTurns out it was a follow up survey to an appliance service call
- A| 1 replyI live in Bangkok, Thailand & today this similar number which is 312-000-00158288 called me in the afternoon. The person sounded like an Indian guy, but my mobile phone has not been great these past months & where I was at the time was had a very bad signal reception, so his voice & conversation kept on breaking on & off. I told him to hang on as I tried to find a good spot to chat, but after a few times he just hang up. I decided to call back just to see what was it all about, but the number was not found or did not existed.
Weird I live half across the planet & some weird random "Indian guy" just call me. - Marty McFly replies to ErinThey said the same [***] to me. Don't you believe it. Next time they call say you work with 'The Bureau'. Leave it unspecific. [***] these jerks.
- Funguy replies to AF those folks. If it were up to me telemarketa would have to give their name and personal phone number to everyone they call. We could return the favor by calling them when they're working, sleeping or driving straight toward a telephone pole.
- Meanlx replies to File a complaintProblem with the FCC site is that they don't accept phone numbers less then 10 digits. So, who knows if they'll even do anything about it. I put in the comments field that the number only shows up as 3 digits.
- dynaleeSunday 6:03pm & 6:28PM & 6:36pm and 6:38pm, 6:41pm, 6:43pm
Received TWO calls showing "out of area" with a phone number of " 312 " only. This is the 8rd time I've been called in 3 weeks and 6 times today within 3/4 of an hour. Usually calls on Saturday Noon or Sunday at supper time. Luckily 2 months ago I purchased a new phone that has CALL BLOCKER capability. Last Sunday I got a call at 6pm. What I did after they gave up ringing ( answering machine was off) was select CALLER ID and skim through all the numbers that had dialed me. When the "OUT OF AREA" 312 came up, I "SAVED" IT. My phone then asked if I wanted to save it to my phonebook or block call. I naturally selected BLOCK CALL. Tonight, I was called times at 6:03, 6:28 & 6:35pm & 6:39pm and now 6:41 and 6:43. I saw each time the call was immediately blocked All CALL BLOCKED and it was the 312 Out of Area ............ so my call blocker caught this number. The last time the phone came, I "connected" but said nothing then disconnected. I'm hoping the robo dialer will quit re-dialing me for today as I've now gone 6 minutes without a further call.
My call blocker must do something to the robo dialer system because I've NEVER been called & re-called so many times in a row like this. I might have to turn on the new call silencer so the phone doesn't ring after 6pm
I BOUGHT THIS PHONE IN ANTICIPATION FOR ELECTION SEASON.......... SO I CAN BLOCK ALL THE POLITICAL CALLS THAT WILL BE COMING PROBABLY STARTING IN OCTOBER.- Caller: ??????????????????????????
- JessicaI figured out how 312 got our numbers. This person started calling once daily , and then it increases to 3 calls per day. YOU can not block the caller, some how the call still gets through. It started last week on my number, this week on a different number, with a different cell phone company; 312 started calling my husband's number.. The only connection where both of our New numbers have been used together, was registering new email addresses that ask for your cell phone number. Maybe the email company is not a safe site like everyone asumes , or an employee is selling it for profit, with out company knowing about it.
- bobcatstart receiving call from a 312 number thats all just 312. i started receiving them on 10/20/2014 and recieve at least 2 a day.
- Ms TReceived several calls a day from 312 .

- SouthpawToday I received a call on my cell from 312. Since my phone was in my coat which was in the closet I did not answer the call. They did not leave a message.
- Ben replies to ErinI got at least two of these calls. I just had an appliance delivered as well. But when I tried to answer there was no one there. Too bad for them because then I figured it was a scam so I added them to my phone's reject list and blocked them from my Google voice number.
- DenGot two calls from 312 today. I have given up trying to stop them from calling. So, the first thing I do with these numbers is to add them to the "Do Not Call" group on my phone, which is assigned the silent ring tone. They don't stop calling, but I never hear it ring, so it doesn't bother me anymore.
- ray colvinGetting calls from 312 unsolicited. How do I block these calls?

- stop calling| 2 repliesWho is this and how are they able to call when your on the no call list. Irritated!
- Slim replies to stop calling>> how are they able to call when your on the no call list. <<
The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, companies with preexisting business relationships, and some other organizations (such as debt collectors), but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The first thing to do is buy a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information.
If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.
