Caller ID indicated Chicago IL. Answering grabbed the call but caller hung up. I suspect this is an unwanted call as had a similar call earlier from Chicago with same results. Blocked and off to fantasy land they go.

I have been getting recorded calls offering utility services several times per week.  I pressed "1" to speak with an agent to ask to be placed on their do not call list and when I did this, they started acting like they could not hear me and saying unrealted things.  They then started speaking in a foreign language. I repeatedly asked to be placed on their do not call list and they kept ignoring my requests until they just hung up.

Called unlisted land line # @11:38 a.m. on 10/14. Did not answer it and since no message was left I subsequently blocked the call. I seem to remember a similar call before.

I called the number back it said I visited a website and now qualified for a $100 retail gift card. I pressed 1 to claim my gift and was transferred to a person who thanked me for calling the Reward Center. I hung up at that point.

I didn't answer, but I called them back via caller ID.  An automated message stated that "You visited one of our affiliated websites and are entitled to a $100 gift card..." at which point I hung up and put them on auto reject.

I answered this call. It was automated. Said it was Com Ed offering a discount if bills have been paid on time. Press 1 if I want to see if I am eligible for a discount. I normally ignore these types of calls.  For the heck of it I pressed 1 and the phone rang and rang without answer on their end.

    "I called the number back"

    Never call back.

If a caller is legitimate, they'll leave a number and a message and they won't keep calling.

If the caller is a scammer, then the number may be spoofed, so if you do reach someone, it may be an innocent party or it might be a non-working number.

If the caller is a scammer and you do get a real phone number, then all you are doing is confirming that they reached a valid number - and they'll sell your number to other scammers.

There is zero benefit to calling back.
