Sam asked to speak to the CEO.  When asked who is calling, he provided only his first name and the company name, Avatara.  When asked for additional information about the nature of his call, he imprudently hung up.  The reason he was asked for additional information is to 1) determine if this is a legitimate call, as opposed to a timewasting scammer, and 2) to acquire sufficient information to route the call to the most appropriate staff member.  While the CEO is ultimately responsible for every aspect of the organization, he supported by a professional staff who purchase a huge variety of goods and services.
