Likely legit. The number called from Amazon Order Verification, claiming they needed to verify an order. They called the phone number I have on file with Amazon and then stated my full name on file and asked me to confirm if that was me. I said yes and they read off a recent transaction I had made, confirming the amount and what I ordered. I told them it was valid and that was it. They did not ask me to give them any information and only asked me to verify what they already knew. I had just placed the order about half an hour prior and my order was a little out of the norm for me so I see why they'd want to verify it.

With the numerous scams over the phone these days, it is very difficult to believe someone with such a story is not a scammer shilling their scam. I have had an Amazon account for many years and never have they ever called me about a purchase verification. They encourage people to use an online Amazon account or the Amazon app. You never gave a reason why they suspected anything and I have doubts the real Amazon would call just to see if it was you who placed an order.
