A person called me and said he was calling from the US Government and that I was given a grant of $9,000.  This money did not have to be paid back.  It is a grant, so he wanted to know my bank acc't information or western union or receive a cashier's check.  He gave this number to called to finalize everything.  315-675-0043.  I dont trust people like this.

So I got the same call today and they said the exact same thing and I was wondering was it  legit, the guy knew my name,the state, and city of where I live. Do you know if it's a scam

Of course it's a Scam! The government does NOT call to offer grants. NEVER! That was your first obvious clue. Your second obvious clue was the fact that your caller was calling from a spoofed NY number; but had an accent that sounded like the speech of an illiterate Indian peasant who had recently taken a tumble from the roof of a train on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

Come on guys I just got the same call a few minutes ago, a person with an Indian accent calling from a government agency, really... giving me a $9000.00 grant that I did not ask for, that I wont have to pay back? seriously do you think that I call fall for that? I the Country that nothing comes free. Don't waste your time paying attention to calls like this. IT IS A SCAM!!!

I just got the same call from the "Government". Apparently Ali Beeba reported to work today and found the US Grant Department in
full swing. That is some dedicated mothers as I write this on Thanksgiving 11/24/2016 at 12:00 PM. The call came from 706 555 1777.
I called it and was advised that my "prepaid money account was zero".

I got this call claiming the same thing. I was like many of you and said to him the US government does not give money away for free. The caller identified himself as Mr. James and told me I was correct. Mr. James said it would cost me $250 to get $9000 or $500 to get 50000. I knew this was bs. I asked him several questions like were he was, how old are, how would this transfer take place, was he a US citizen and on and on. Mr. James indicated he was a casino owner in New York and just wanted to help people. I said if you truly wanted to help people you would not be asking for money to give them money. I told him I would not be funding his terrosist organization and I would be reporting this scam.

Got the same call as everyone else......twice in the same day!   Found these comments and decided to add mine to the others. I told the guy the "government" doesn't give money to 300 lucky people every year. They rape and pillage to their hearts content while we starve as they live high on "the hog". Give me a break!!!!

I just had the same call. The caller clearly had trouble speaking English and even more understanding it. I asked multiple times the name of the Act of Congress that created this program and never received a satisfactory answer. I took down the phone number given and a search led me to this forum while on the phone. I told him it was a scam and I would not give him any information.

Got the same call,,asked them to call me back at my office. Gave them the number for the local FBI office.

The second time I have "won" grant money.  First time $6000...second time $9000.  Sooo wish it was real.  Don't believe

I go the call and call and called them just to have some fun.  Boy they think we are that stupid.  $250 cash that I get back after I get verified and they give me the $9000.   I enjoy wasting their time as much as they do mine

Call from 315-675-0043 about $9,000... wants me to call another number and give them my bank account info so they can deposit the money

Do what I did,,, I said that I was only a few minutes away from walmart and i was heading that way right now. Only i kept her on the line for as long as i could before she realized that I was scamming her lol

Got the call just now (3/16/17 9:45 AM) Third time in 3-4 days.  I've been listening to these BS scam calls for 20 years. Kept him on the line as long as I could, all the way to the end. Told him my name was Payto Cozener.  Look it up; a "cozener" is an old word for "scammer".  "Pay to Scammer".   Ok, well anyway *I* think I'm funny. I know I won't really have any effect on the crooks, but I don't have much fun in the rest of my life, so I take it where I can get it.  Good luck to all of you.

Really?  I sort of doubt that since you don't even know how to ignore and block the calls.
