- Voice of ReasonIt's a seemingly legit company offering assistance with the SSA "Ticket to Work" program. They left a message asking for someone I didn't know; I imagine that person's cell number got reassigned to me when I first activated my phone.
Anyway, I called them back to politely request they put me on their Do Not Call list and the lady I spoke to was nice as pie and very cooperative with me.
My advice is don't be a jerk and be civil when you request to be removed from their calling lists. It could be that they're just calling you due to a case of mistaken identity, or they may very well have obtained your number from the SSA or public records.- Caller: Disabled Workers

- Disabled Workers Employee| 5 repliesI am an employee of Disabled Workers and wanted to give you all a little information about who we are and what we do to try and alleviate some of the concerns here! We do understand that there are a lot of scams out there, but we are not here to take advantage of anyone, we are simply trying to inform the general public about a program SSA offers that is not too widely known. Through the Ticket to Work program we are able to assist those with disabilities (that feel they can TRY) to try and find employment or return to school. The whole point of the program is to hopefully find you employment that will earn you enough money to no longer need your disability benefits but we do understand that not everyone is able to achieve that.
We receive a list from SSA each month with the phone number of everyone that has submitted their phone number to SSA and that are receiving disability benefits. If you would like to be taken out of that list, you simply need to contact Maximus toll free at 1-866-968-7842 and they can remove you from any future lists. We will also add you to our DNC list if you request! We don't mean to offend anyone, but there are a lot of incentives to the programs that a lot of people don't know anything about!
We are an approved Employment Network under the Ticket to Work Program through SSA- you can view more detailed information by clicking this link to be taken to SSA's website that explains exactly who/what we are!
We do apologize if we have inconvenienced anyone and again, do not wish to upset anyone! If you are interested in learning more, you can always reach us toll free at 1-877-291-9806 and press 0 to speak with an operator! There are never any costs for any of our services and never any obligation if you do want to try us out!- Caller: Disabled Workers

- jijiThey just called me.. I don't know who they are.. but the call did not go through.. it keep breaking up.. i hear nothing on the other side.. From what I have read they must want me to go back to work.. if this is the case.. they need to find me a job where i don't have to stand.. and that doesn't mind that i take random sometimes multiple..days off of work due to my severe anxiety and depression.. and that don't mind that I am quite slow and learn slow.. and don't get upset with me that i become really overwhelmed and over stimulated and want to go home at random times because of anxiety .. Or they can get me a job where all i have to do is sit at home and paint pictures.. if it is something easy that I can do from home it might fair better.. but if its working with the public it will not work out.. just thinking about going out and meeting people i don't know makes me short of breath.. I don't know what they want from me..

- jimmyI received a call from this so called company and tried to call them back on the number they called from. The number I reported here. All I was able to do is get their, " general mail box. " I have an unpublished phone number and wonder how they got it. I never give it out. As far as I am concerned these people are scammed preying on disabled people. I am 100% disabled and have been for a very long time and do NOT want or need SCAMMERS calling me.
- Bipolarking89I just reported this number to the Waterloo police department. This is definitely a scam. These people have no ties to social security because the social security headquarters is in Pennsylvania which means they would have to be on an on branch site. I do remember though I got some scamming calls related to this incident from Iowa before claiming they help people with disabilities for a nominal high fee through their own inference, but this organization is a malicious criminal thief syndicate. Do not give them your information at all. Us people on here are disabled and it is a major crime to take advantage of a person with a physical or mental disability.
- Caller: Social security impostors.
- JonJust got a call from this number and I neither live in Iowa (I live in Illinois) nor am disabled. Sounds like it maybe a phishing scam to me.
- LeoThis is a scam- there is no legal way they can be privy to the fact that you are disabled. It is alarming that these lists they are using may be comprised from info hacked from government or private medical data bases. Report these calls to your states attorney General.

- disabledI have had over 10 spinal operations, and suffer a great deal of pain. I am more than likely never going to heal completely. I haven't even had a month since my last operation, and I have some lady calling me to ask if I'm interested in a job.
Give me a break people!
Don't you think I would be working if I could?- Caller: disabled workers

- Harvey replies to Disabled Workers EmployeeThis is a SCAM They say there is never a cost or obligation but if you co-operate with these people you will lose your benefits and not have a job either! and that is if they do work with the SS.....If you remember how hard it was to get YOUR benefits in the first place, think twice before giving them any info. The only way to explain there having your number is that the SS is providing it, and this company gets paid by getting you to say you can go to school or work. If it was up to the SS you would go up the chimney for being disabled and asking for YOUR earned benefit. They do not have a job for you only grief.....and more lies
- Phoenix replies to KeittaThe way they got MY number was from a Walmart application. The reason I know that is because they called MY number leaving a message for my brother who had just put an application with them but he put down my number as he is Deaf. BTW some of the questions in the app is if the applicant is disabled and if they receiving SSD, SSI or some other assistance. Anyway, this is the only time my bro has used my number as this was his first time applying to work anywhere
- KurtGot this call could barely understand them something about going back to work or school is all I could get out of it. I'm out of work because of depression two disks fused in my neck and a lower back that needs to have surgery on it two disks there that need to be fused as well and they think I can work some days I can barely move!!!!
- Diane replies to Disabled Workers Employee| 1 replyIF this is a legitimate agency/program, why is it that the SS offices would not be telling their clients about the possibility of receiving these types of calls??? It seems to me that the people who are receiving SSI (and other types of benefits), should be informed that their phone number might- or will- be given to other agencies such as this; and/or, the people should then have the choice to "opt-out" if they are not comfortable with being contacted by other sources. It appears that perhaps the right to privacy is being violated? In my opinion, anyone receiving these types of calls should report them to their local SS office, and request additional information, PRIOR to giving these callers any personal information. There ARE way too many scams out there these days, and as the old adage states: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"! Better to err on the side of caution!
- SSD Receipient replies to DianeThe ticket to work is indeed a valid SS program, ant least for me. I received it along with my first papers from them with my award. I do also from time to time get calls, not from this company though. I agree that SS should tell you which companies will be calling so that people can avoid scams. Or they should have a list that is easily found on their web site to check out the name and phone numbers of these companies.
- ArthurI have received many, many calls from different so called companies claiming to represent the social security administration. First of all, the social security administration always identifies itself as, 'The social security administration'. These are private organizations that have found a way to earn a buck off of our government as a third party however they are not allowed to even make the slightest reference to being associated with our government. Most are scammers to be avoided like the plague. I am 65 years old and, 'disabled workers' called me today trying to get me to call social security and apply for the back to work program, now how ridiculous is that. They knew so little about me and the program that they were trying to scam me on, my guess is that they simply bought a list of disabled workers otherwise they would have known that I did and failed the ticket to work program years ago. If caller ID doesn't say, social security administration don't answer, period. Finally if you have a call blocker use it because they will hound and badger one until with luck someone gives in.

- JaseI received a call who said her name was Pam from 319-215-4543. She said she was from the Ticket to Work Program and asked if I was interested in going back to school. She had my first name and last name. She asked for my middle name. Stupidly, I told her my initial. I heard a lot of typing. She said there is a $500 work incentive. While going to school for the PASS plan, all of my SSDI would be used to pay for the school with only the $500 to live on. She said the website was disabledworkersusa.com and I asked her if I could speak with her again when I called. She laughed and said it's a small office and she might be on another call but they also would be someone else at the office if I didn't reach her. Once again, stupidly, I gave her my email address. I told her I couldn't commit until I spoke with my doctors and medical case manager.
- Shari replies to Kay| 2 repliesIt is a great program. If you make $750 before taxes you will get $500 downloaded on a debit card.
- BigA replies to Shari| 1 replyFirst, you are replying to a post made in 2012, 4 years ago. Second, you fail to mention that after 9 months you lose your disability benefits, have to live on minimum wage, and you also lose your medicare coverage. Good luck paying for Obamacare and its deductibles and copays on $7.25 an hour.
- JanyceGot a call from this # at 9:59 a.m. I don't think a message was left. If a legit business, why the ID shows "unavailable"?
