We never answer unknown calls so they can call all day and all night and never get an answer.  Probably just another scammer.  I did *67 and called the number back and a voice mail came on saying if you want to be removed from the call give them your number.  I will never give them my number because they will just use it to call from another number.

Caller i.d. says "cell phone Calif."...Have relatives in Ca so took a chance. Started out: "Senior citizens, play close attention.."  at which point I hung up so don't know what the whole thing was about but can guess. Must be my lucky day -- no phone calls all day, and now three within the last half hour (is now 6:30), two telemarketers and one "survey". Bah, humbug!!!!

I get these same calls, which begin, Senior Citizens..................i'm keeping track of the date & time so I can file yet another complaint with the attorney general's office.  California actually acts on these things!!!!  Will have a list for them.

So much for the do not call list...............

Just got the call.  Same as above.  I get this call about 3 times a week, all from different numbers.  I have used their feature to push 5 or whatever. I have pushed the number and told them to take me off their list.  I have waited through all aspects of their sales pitch right up to the point where they were just going to ask for my credit card and then asked for a supervisor (they don't give me one and they hang up).  It doesn't seem to matter what I do they just keep calling.  I'm so damn mad about it, but there doesn't seem to be any way to stop it.  They say they are selling the "I'm falling and I can't get up" systems.  Life Alert or whatever it's called.  But I think it's a scam.  What I can't figure out, though, is that it seems to go through a call center, but what legitimate call center would do this?

I am on the "do not call" list but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

BBB warns of new phone scam offering free groceries

    MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The Better Business Bureau is warning of a scam targeting senior citizens using the lure of free groceries and a medical alert device. The phone scam even dialed the Action News 5 Investigators tip line, without realizing, of course, who they were talking to.

The scam begins with a recording when you pick up the phone.

It said, "Sixty years old or older, you now qualify for the new national senior assistance to receive $3,000 in free grocery savings certificates."

It says if you are a senior citizen, you get $3,000 in free groceries, as well as a medical alert device.

The Better Business Bureau says it is bogus.

"As usual, it's too good to be true and when it's too good to be true it probably is," said Jan Culbreath, who got the call this week.

Culbreath is worried that someone out there will fall for the scam.

"Somebody may just buy into this really quickly thinking that they can not only support themselves but so many senior citizens are actually helping their children and grandchildren. I am," she explained.

The Better Business Bureau recommends hanging up. Do not push any buttons and do not speak with anyone. This call asks you to push a button to speak with someone. It is an old scam criss crossing the country but relatively new in the Memphis area.

The BBB says if there is a business that calls and you are interested in them, do not agree to anything before checking them out online and good place to start that process is with the BBB.

    FYI
This call is a SCAM.  Why doesn't this site have "phish" or "scam" as an option for Call Type?  That's what most of the calls reported here are, after all.
