Received a text message from this number last night in association with email messages from d.broke014@gmail.com.  Following an email search today this address was listed as a scammer stealing art work from artists and galleries.The email name posted is Lana Churchill from Lodi, CA.  I would like to find the real caller.

Yes, this is a scammer...trying to buy artwork...sending a check that is a "mistake" written for much more than the asking price....wanting you to send the overpayment back to her...I contacted the FBI.

I just had the same thing happen to me.

I received messages via email and phone from 331-256-7725 with the name Nina McAllister requesting original artwork. Sent a check overpaying the quoted amount for the paintings. Said her husband made a huge mistake and could i please refund the difference.

Don't do it, that check is going to bounce better then a super ball in a concrete building.  This is a scam!

Sending fake checks through the mail is a crime so contact the US Postal Service Inspectors:

If you receive an email or letter in the post / regular mail saying you won a lottery and they send you a check? Or you sold something on Ebay and the buyer paid with a check? Or  you took out a loan from a distant or online bank and they sent you a check? You can just take the check to your bank and cash it right?

WRONG!  And what is worse, if you cash it, in most states in the US, you may be guilty of passing a counterfeit check, money laundering or worse. Clark Howard did a piece on his radio show about a man in California who was arrested for cashing a bogus check. In other words, by merely attempting to cash the check, you could go to federal prison!

OMG...this is happening to me right now. I did not send the artwork.
