Received text msg on cell phone stating "payment issues" and instructing to call this number. Does AT&T really use texting? I think it's a fraud.

Scam text message claiming to be from AT&T saying "Payment issues".  Checked with AT&T online, my balance was paid by auto-pay and is zero as I suspected.  SCAM!

They sent  a text message from "1 (410) 100-026" (not 10 digits) on 8/14/2020 at 6:45 pm (Central) typed EXACTLY as follows:

Text message from 3462501003 saying my AT&T pmt had “issues”.  Scam

Text message from 141-010-0003 claiming payment issues with my AT&T acct and stated to call this number. This is a scam to get your credit card information.

Claims to be from ATT; scam

Recieved a text on 8/14 claiming to be from AT&T and that there was a payment issue. I was wary of this text because it didn't follow the same format of the other texts that I have received from them. Went to the AT&T store to check on it and they told me it was not from them  and my bill was up to date.

Received same msg, Sat /15/2020. Bill not due until 8/30. Current 0 bal.  Scam! Reported to ATT fraud division .

Got same message and knew it was a fraud. Did not respond

Rec’d same type text msg. Checked acct and did not owe pmt.

This number said that my Bank Card Was locked and to enter my info to unlock it, well I did and now I find out it was a scam and I locked it quick before they could take anything out. Now I have to get a new card. It was early in the morning and I was not all there. Don't trust this number.

Why did you mark this call as "valid" when you know it wasn't?

They sent a text stating there was s issue with my AT&T payment,  and  that my debit card had been locked and  to call 346-250-1003 to get my debit card unlocked. I knew it was a scam because AT&T text messages is definitely different then theirs and they don't know how my bill payment are made. Please don't call this number back people because they are trying to get information from you.

Called number: press 1 to get my debit card unlocked.  I do NOT have a debit card.

AT&T also wouldn't know if your debit card was locked or not; they would have no clue.

I got the same text. Called the number, got a message " I'm sorry to tell you your card is frozen," so checked with bank nothing is frozen, I never spoke at all.  Can't figure out what they gain from this?
