Same call the others received.  The message they left was "cut off".  Called back, got the recording about getting my business on the front page of results.  Used Option 9 to be removed from the list, and they said it could take up to 5 business days.  Hopefully that did the trick.

The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like http://www.telephonemanagement.net and http://www.CallerID4U.com
In their own words:  'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'

You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their con then it is just icing on the cake for them.

1.    Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2.    Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone

4.    Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5.    People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
Register your phone numbers online at http://www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).

Calls and hangs up

JERKS robocall from three different numbers so far 253-236-2052 360-322-6144 425-406-9023 with "Update your free internet business directory listing press 1."  Caller I.D. says "NCOMING CALL" in an effort to trick people into picking up.

Called business and recorded message to press #1 to have my business listing updated.
Hung up and will block this number....

What about pressing your speakerphone button and not saying a word?
Eventually they say nothing, hang up (in this & other cases) and get charged for the call, the longer, the better.
Except you may say - they have an unlimited LD plan .....

I have had SOME limited success in not getting call backs in this manner ... which is a better batting average than the time spent reporting these to the No Call Center on line

I called the number back.  It is supposedly a local SEO company.  Clearly, this is spam.

Call the number back.  Listen to their pitch..hit 9....wait a bit and hit 9 again and you will be removed from these spam [***] list.

This is yet another Google listing scam. I have received no less than 9 of these robo calls today. All from different numbers.

using Roger's home phone, tried to block the number, but they must be spoofing it some way as it was not recognized.  temporarily blocked my neighbour's phone number, but not these screwballs' number.

I hate hangups.

They call and hang up.
I think they HOPE people will call back.
It would show 'signs of life'.  
The press'9' to be removed is probably just more confirmation that they reached an active number.

The above listed number called...once the phone is answered the line is disconnected.
Moments later another 'Long DIstance' number calls and there is a person usually from
' Internet Services' or some other really official sounding telemarketing business.

Same old thing.  Try to convince people  - either to  fix your website page rank, google search ranking, or our computer is sending out SOS signals & cries for help to some little man named Jasper at a call center who knows where.
Who then claims he's been trying to contact us for 2 months via 'messages' - and the mere fact that we didn't receive any of those so-called messages from him is only MORE Proof that our computer is in grave danger!!!!
Have no fear though....It's nothing that paying Jasper's employer $499 or so with a credit card won't fix.
It's best not to even answer the phone.
This can be tricky as a business because you can end up missing 'real' calls.
