I received a call from 404-410-2396 today and when I asked how they got my number they hung up.

I received a call from the above number ... 404-410-2396.  When I answered, I heard a recording that said..."Goodbye".  What are they trying to do... to verify that my phone number was a valid one for future misuse?

I received a call from this number (404-410-2396) today and the lady said she was a Microsoft support person and there was a virus reported from my computer.  I wasn't at home so she called back later when I was and asked me to get onto my computer.  She wanted me to "run" something or remote into my computer so she could show me the corrupted files and how to remove them.  I hung up and my friend from IT at work confirmed it is a SCAM...checks out on Snopes http://snopes.com/fraud/telephone/microsoft.asp

keep getting calls from this number and they just sit there and then hang up. Its getting real annoying.

I got a call from 404-410-2396 and a woman with an Indian accent told me the bit about having a virus on my computer.  She asked me what operating system I use.  I told her I was in my car and had no idea how she knew anything about my computer.  I asked her how she got my number.  She completely disregarded my question and asked me to look at my keyboard.  I told her not to call me again.  She called me again when I got home and started her whole load of dung again.  I again told her not to call me.  Then I called the Do Not Call registry at 888-382-1222 and reported her stupid act.

Got a call from  a male voice identified himself as Kevin (east indian accent) as representing microsoft and was calling about a potential virus on my computer. He had me run event viewer, and indicated that the warings and application hangs listed were evidence of a computer virus. As I was sceptical from the start, I told him that I would not allow him remote access to my computer and asked him to give me the number for which he was calling so I could verify his connection to microsoft. He called from 404-410-2396 and gave me a call back number of 678-701-2737 .  DON'T BE FOOLED!!!

calls numerous times per day, I have no idea who or what it is.  I now see comments by others, so I am going to block the number.

I love getting these calls, I act really stupid and when they ask me to type something, like control r I will say ok i just typed 90ct and they will repeat and say no control r  and I will say oh sorry did you say control 5900p and they will say no control r and i will say sorry  ok i just typed alt t m. This can go on and on, and the responses I give get more and more ridiculous. Then the best part is the sigh and obvious change in their tone of voice when they have realized that the catch got off the hook, and that I'm messing with their heads. I suggest not hanging up they will call back. Just act worried and surprised, and thank them, then act more and more stupid and ask non connected questions. I got one today when after 12 failed  attempts for me to find the control key I asked, in his opinion in my state, what is a fair price for a chicken vindaloo? He said f*** you and hung up on me. It was great. What can I say? I love messing with people who are trying to do harm.

Good one.   I'm going to do the same and ask what's a good place for Chicken Vindaloo.

Just received a call and they said there were from I think Microsoft.  I couldn't really understand him but when I told him that I was good and didn't need my computer checked, he said goodbye very quickly and hung up.

Said they were from Microsoft and that I had a virus on my computer.  Couldn't really understand what he was saying and asked if I could talk to someone that actually speaks english. They hung up after I started cussing and yelling at them for not answering my questions

I just don't answer and put ignore on my contacts.

I just got a call from a male who had an Indian accent and he asked for Mary.  I asked who was calling and he gave me some name and I then asked him what the call was in reference to.  He told me that he was from Microsoft and that he is an IT technician assigned to assist Mary with a virus that Microsoft was just alerted to in her computer.  I told him that I was Mary's husband and that on her behalf I could assist him.  When he asked me to go to Mary's computer so that he could help me get rid of the virus, I asked him how he got Mary's number.  He just said that it was given to him and asked me again if I would go to Mary's computer so that he could assist me in getting rid of the virus.  I asked him where he was calling from and he again told me that he was calling from Microsoft.  I then asked him from which of their locations and he told me from their IT Dept.  I started to ask him another question and he didn't answer and I muted my phone so he couldn't hear my wife and I talking.  This went on for a few more minutes before I finally disconnected the call.

Today, even I have recieved call from this number but I have missed answering it.

When I called back to see who it might be.. nobody answered. Then googled and found this page and here I found plenty of us recieving calls from this number since sometime now.

This number gets your information from the downsave virus. I know, I just informed the schmuck on the other end of the line that I know darn well Microsoft doesnt solicit calls to random people to inform them their system is infected, I also informed dear James I work in law enforcement and will be forwarding his info. When I responded I haven't even downloaded anything, he informed me it came from Downsave. Hope this helps some. check your installed programs and also your BHO's in firefox
