- GMAVery insistant person from the US Labor statistics asking for employee totals for certain weeks. VERY RUDE PERSON for something that is supposed to be voluntary!!! We declined to participate since it was not manditory to supply information, but she kept calling and calling until she got the owner of the company and he decided to give her the info to shut her up!
The sad thing is this report will not show the reality of our unemployment situation in this country because they only ask about a current week number of employee's, what about the 16 that were laid off last month!!! I guess they don't get counted - ACGThey call the business phone first, if you don't answer, they will call you home number !!!!!!.
Even after I told them that our business is dead and we have no employee to report, they still want to send me document to fill up and they are going to call me again to help me fill it out.- Call type: Survey
- ReceptionistDonna Salinas calls our office almost everyday, usually about a dozen times because I won't answer. Today I found out that she had been calling the cell phones of our sales team. At that, I gave her an earful. I'm hoping she doesn't have the audacity to continue her harassment of our employees.

- ZachThey've called our office every day this week, at least twice a day. We are all self employed, and tend to come in after 10:00. The caller ID always shows them as having called a couple of times around 9:00. No messages, though.

- Staffing Admin| 4 repliesI have been working with the dept of labor to report our monthly new hires, terms, etc. There are 5 numbers I need to come up with regarding our monthly labor. I am sure if you have experienced rude people, it is because you may being to them yourself. I have had no problem wiht them, I have worked with two or three people now, which all have been very nice. I am sure my nice contact at the dept of labor would get rude, say if I was flat out rude to her, acting as if I am annoyed she is calling and snapping at her. Who wouln't push back a bit.
Anyway, I believe the statistical reporting of these figures each month is a voluntary program for employers, which aids the DEPt of labor in calculating unemployment and such. I do this every month usually a day or two after the 12th. Its not hard to calculate the numbers, takes 10 minutes tops. Not like many of you have been in the service or anything, but you could spare 10 minutes at your job to help the dept of labor? maybe save a tax dollar,- Caller: US DEPT OF LABOR
- LegalEagle| 1 replyI'm not sure this is actually the Dept. of Labor. When they called, the person identified themselves as being from the NM Dept. of Labor; a 404 area code is not NM. Maybe this is some university or think tank trying to get numbers? I don't know, but I do not believe they are any state's Dept. of Labor. Be careful that you're not violating people's privacy when responding to these folks.

- DeeI am absolutely sick of these idiots. They said they needed 6 months worth of data. I gave them the six months of data, and they continue to call. I now believe this is a joke. What professional business continues to harrass professional companies for data that was given to them after asking? This foolishness needs to stop, and I am purely disgusted.

- redheartlove replies to Staffing AdminPersonally, they are not rude, but the calling 2X or 3X a day is annoying. The accountant is only in 2 days a week. They won't leave a message with me, but I know who they are. The acct has spoken with them & said they would not participate, but they still call. Why don't they hook up with the IRS and get statistics that way? There is a blank on your taxes that asks you for your profession, and of course your yearly salary. Bam, instant info & you don't have to ask us to do anything. Hey, why don't you PAY us $50 a month to give you figures???
- Margaret replies to LegalEagleIt is the UNITED STATES Department of Labor calling from their office in Atlanta Georgia (this can be verified through the DOL's website). We, too, keep getting these calls through our switchboard for our payroll department and we're all getting pretty sick and tired of the calls. I am the receptionist and the caller - Mr. Riling (sp?) has been nice to me, although today he called and sounded pretty irritated that all he gets in our payroll person's voicemail.
- Margaret replies to wrong numberWhat makes you think they are "Labor Staffing"?
- erik replies to Staffing AdminThis is to be voluntary. BTW - They can get all this information from the State Employment Development Department. 100% and they have recommended to NOT give the information AT ALL!
- SandyHave recd several calls from this number and the caller is Jay strong. She is not rude but very persistent. She says that since we have our own business, we have to report all the employees etc. it's mandatory and they have a deadline to follow. They want to talk to my accountant. I donot know if I should trust them and give them ten information....

- Know it AllThis is the US government calls. Several cities in the US that could call for your bizz for data. Some states are mandatory & others are not. Its data collection and can't be pulled from what you give the states quarterly (the agencies don't give info across each other, it’s a conflict of interest & who would want them to). Take the call & tell them firmly when to call you and what number to use. It saves them and you time, there are deadlines & they are sticklers on making them.

- KimReceived a call from this number today for the first time. He immediately said he was from the US Labor Department needed to verify the address for sending a few forms. I told him the address was correct, then he said he needed the name of the person in payroll and I gave him our payroll person's first name. Then he asked for the last name, and I told him I was unable to give out information of such and he hung up on me. If this number calls do not even verify address, they are up to no good.....

- Ashley replies to Staffing AdminIt is not mandatory to give these figures, so if you are too busy and avoid a few of their calls it should therefore, be okay. Try that a time or two and I guarantee you will get the same response as others on this site. If you dont give them the optional information they get VERY rude with their daily voicemails. Some of us dont have that 10 minutes to give them. I work for a recruiting company and staff tons of employees and it actually takes hours to widdle thru which are Ga and which are not. They are very pushy to get the information that most of us WILLINGLY take the time to eventually give them.
- williami would not use the word rude to describe this woman. I would use the work crude with reference to business language.
I have sent them a letter requesting to opt out, and have advised my clients to ignore their calls or refer tem to me.- Caller: us dept of labor bureau of labor stats
