Received an SMS from this number, personalized with my name. "<name>, we're excited to have you in our Looker family. Click the link to get started." It was a goo.gl shortened URL. I didn't click it.

I got the same text message too. I haven't clicked the link either.

...that looks pretty sktechy to me.
How can you be sure any of these other posters signed up for anything?  Sounds more like unsolicited spam.

Seriously?  They hire people off the streets to do what trained professionals need to do?  Like appraise car damage?

As I recall, I received a "job search" advertisement with their name on it via ZipRecruiter.
There was a website associated with this particular application that had a "click the choices" questionnaire and about the last one asked for a phone and SSN# from me.
I gave the phone # thinking it was ligit but I'm always reluctant to give out my SSN till I get hired so I entered several, bogus SSN# numbers (I don't give out that info so easily) to get through that part and oddly, it wouldn't accept any of them so I gave up on it and closed it out.

A couple days later I received the above text.

I called the actual "Crawford Inspection Services Co and they denied any knowledge of a rep search add, an application process or the actual text itself.

BTW...
I didn't open the link and the guy at CIS itself recommended that I not open it as well.
