- annoyed girl| 3 repliesIve recieved calls from this number getting a recording about my car warranty...when i called back they said i was not on their preferred customers list so basically they can call me racking up my minutes and i cant even get thru to yell at them about it!
- Kay replies to annoyed girlIt is a scam.. they are also calling in on 562-289-8136.. So both these numbers (408-651-8199 and the one above) are about "car warranties". My understanding is massive scam of some kind and not sure how to stop it. I registered my cell about 5 days ago on the Do Not Call Registry so I could start sending complaints to the FCC. If your phone is already on the do not call registry? Complain now!!!
- sarathey just called me, too. no message. and i've also been getting calls from that 562 number.
- totally frustratedditto to above plus another number about two weeks ago that was from Houston. All numbers without any way to trace them without spending my money. I too registered cell about a week ago and plan to hammer the FCC with complaints once the 31 days post registry is done. My elderly realtives are getting really scared by these calls. I've put them on DNC list and told them to not even bother to try the opt out response. I am very concerned this is an identity theft problem/phishing on the phone and if someone gives them any indication that they might be vulnerable they are at risk. Please people- warn anyone you know to not accept any unidentified calls, to regist ALL their numbers on the DNC list and if they can get call blocking on their phone. Any number that comes in that I don't recognize gets checked on line- not answered. Anyone who wants to talk to me will leave a message and the important ones are in my phone books/contact list anyway.
- Caller: unidentified
- DeeMe too!
I am on the DNC list!
I HAVE sent a complaint!
I hope they get a giant fine for harassing people this way.
I haven't answered a single call from these numbers and they won't give up!
and the BEST thing..... I don't even own a car.- Caller: ?
- Mia - SeattleWell, maybe this isn't legitimate, legal or nice....but these people called my VERY private cell phone. Since I keep this number extrememly personal and private I didn't register it on DNC --- but --- my home number is registered (has been for 2 years) so .... I placed a complaint anyway (using my home number) LOL. Serves 'em right!
I'll do it again too. - Vigilante ComplainerEveryone, please lets gang up on them too!!
Place a complaint everytime they call. Eventually the FCC will get as fed up of them as we all are. (we can hope)
go to this site to place a legitimate complaint!!
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints_tcpa.html - buddyBoth numbers have called me also and I called them both back and it said they took me off the list. THis is BS what can a person do?
- BoI got two calls last night and one about 2 hours ago on my cell, last nights calling number was 586-218-1104 tonights was 408-651-8199,about car warranty. I drive a 1990 model that I have had for years. Oh, and family and friends are the only ones that have my number. I have just hung up on them.
- kelliMy entire family, including my 12 year old son and my 14 year old neice, have been getting these two numbers on their cell phone as well. My husband actually hit "1" to speak to someone. The man on the phone was attempting to get an upgrade on the warranty of our vehicle. My husband wanted to know which vehicle because we have 5.... and before he could request to be taken off the call list the guy hung up on him because he in fact didn't have ANY information on ANY car we have. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION ON THE VEHICLES YOU DO HAVE. I identified the number on my son's phone and neices phone by placing the contact name as "do not answer" so she won't wonder who it is.
- 13-year-oldIn the last couple of days, I have recieved calls from 562-289-8136, 573-200-0469, 813-850-9887, and 408-651-8199. I didn't dare pick it up. I really don't know what to do about them.
Does anyone have the "Do Not Call" number or website?
Thanks! - Ryan..........these
- Caller: jerks!!
- SKHi Guys:
It seems like we all are facing the same issue. I just switched over from Cingular to T-Mobile and since then I have been getting these calls. I am suspecting that may be T-Mobile is involved in the scam. They may get benefitted by finishing our minutes and then charging big money.... I would be interested to know how many of you are related with T-Mobile!!! It may be you transferred the number from T-Mobile to other carrier recently.
Thanks - ajCALLED AT 8:30 ON A SATURDAY MORNING!!!
- T-Mobile userT-Mobile users, huh. That is an interesting theory. I thought it was the ticket I purchased online for a fundraiser that sold my info or something. Maybe someone tapped into their files, too? Although I wouldn't doubt the call people so the compnay can make money idea from a company. Teh local phone company has done that in the past.
Glad my phone wasn't near the bed, they called at 8:30 am today,a Saturday. This is the first call frmo this number but I've gotten the 562 number every day for two weeks now. - NY ComplaintYup...
Came up on the Caller ID on our non-public house phone as Nation One
Got the msg, decided to have some fun, pressed #1
The woman came on, asked for my make and model and I said "You called me, you tell me the make and model of my car"
She promptly hung up.
I called back the 408-651-8199 number and an automated system simply says "You've been removed from our list"
If these jack [***] keep calling, take down the exact time/day and what number, promptly file with the FCC for every event, everytime.
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints_tcpa.html
Use the email form - put the telco# into the subject, if enough of us send emails with the telco# in the subject, someone at the FCC will take notice, gather up all of the infractions and go after these [***].
If they have multiple numbers, most likely they are using something like Vonage where you can have 1 telco# assigned to an IP box and you're allowing to buy "Virtual Numbers" and have them in any area code in any state. Its great if you're a business doing legitimate business and need local numbers, but these [***] are abusing the system in this scam of there's and they can't hide behind some IP box hung on a broadband connection, the FBI can trace what IP they are using and down to the IP address and go right to whatever boiler-room operation they are running and slap the cuffs on these [***].- Caller: Waranty Service Scam

- law replies to annoyed girlreport this fraud to your state's attornery general and to the FTC. you can find more information about reporting fraud on www.fraud.org
- meileiReceived one call from this number and two from 562-289-8136--car warranty extension. Just may be co-incidence, but also just had to cancel a credt card because there were fradulent charges from a VerWireless ecars business. Someone had most likely gotten ahold of my card number but not expiration date. Keep an eye on your accts, bank or credit. I've posted this coincidence under 888-294-6804 if it helps anyone.
- FredTry calling back the number on an automated redial. I've managed to plug their lines a couple of times on my own. If we all do it it'll cost them.
