They called my dad acting like a lawyer calling on behalf of his grandson who had been in an accident, drunk and was on his way to jail. Wanted bond money sent from the nearest Walmart. They had all the right info,

Same as above. My parents were called and told that their grandchild was involved in an accident where alcohol may have been involved. "David Adams" told them to go to the nearest Walmart and wire $2,340 for bail.
I talked to my daughter who has been in class all day. No accident. All is well. "David" called me back after I called him about 10 times (with no answer). He kept up with the same lie and refused to give me his address. I called him out on his BS but he said that the person that is being detained must have lied about her identity.... Yeah right.

This is a well known scam, and it seems a lot of people are falling for it lately.  I see reports almost everyday about people that send money and then think about calling the person on the phone afterwards.

Guy called my elderly parents, one who has dementia posing as their grandson to tell them he had been arrested and needed bail money.  He then told my parents that he would have his attorney call back.  Same guy calls back and tells them grandson has been arrested for DUI/Reckless Endangerment and that he put a pregnant woman in the hospital and that he had a broken nose.  He also told them that grandson took a breathalyzer test and blew a .09 in the field.  He told them bail was set at $6,000 and could they send that.  They told him they didn't have that kind of money.  He then told them that he had talked to the states attorney and since this was a first offense and my son was still a juvenile that the bail had been dropped to $2,450 and he had secured an Out of State Appearance Bond through Bank of America.

Caller Kevin Thompson, said my grandaughter had been in an accident, arrested on DUI, Had a phone call supposedly from her, crying, could hardly understand her. then this guy calls. Wanted us to wire money to Allentown, pa.  She was said to be in jail in Albany, ny.  Bail dropped from 12000 to 5000 to 2000.
