keeps calling and no sound or message

We have new land line phones. I am not used to which button to push to put the incoming calls on speaker phone, which works best for me because off a hearing disability. So answered the call first saying hello? Hello?  Then remembered the speaker phone button and said hello again They helloed back and I helloed back twice more with no more response from the caller. Then a lot of clicking as if they  were trying to hang up.  So I just hung up. Although it appeared by caller ID to be either a call from an autism charity or possibility a political group (anti-vaccine because some people think certain childhood vaccines may cause autism), I would block the call for either reason. We just don’t respond to any fund-raising organizations that call. Regardless of their cause. We do not respond with donations. It is unfortunately impossible to know the legitimacy of a charity over the telephone. Anyone can put any name and number and have it on their caller id. I DID try to call this number back TWICE, which I think goes above and beyond politeness-wise.  If I had gotten a response, I would have suggested they send us something by mail BUT would not have committed to making any monetary donations over the telephone.  Each call-back ended in dead air. Absolutely no sound. No busy signal. No ringing. Because of this, I think this call may be even less legitimate as to who was actually calling. Sorry. BLOCKING. Only calling this unknown, because of my not being able to hear what they might have said before I remembered to turn on the speaker phone button. Otherwise would be calling this a scam suspicion, since there was dead air when trying to call them back.

Same as above, basically, but WARNING if someone asks you to donate $ over the phone, don’t give them any personal information and ESPECIALLY don’t give them your credit card number or your full name or the name on your card or your SSN or your DOB or your dog’s middle name. Absolutely DO NOT GIVE THEM EVEN ONE LITTLE TIDBIT OF INFORMATION. If this call is a charity, you are perfectly capable of googling the name of the charity, if it is one you wish to support, and asking them to send you a donation form and information IN THE MAIL.  EVEN THEN be cautious. BLOCKING ALSO.

well your being too nice and may i say naiive. everything is a scam, thats what i tell my wife. and i think im 90 percent right. so the other 10 percent will just have to deal with it.

Call from 410-514-3484.  Caller ID said "AMERAUTISTCCHI" . No message.  I did not answer.  Suspect scam!

You are beyond rude, beyond insolent and well into the "I'm as stupid as a Trump Republican" area. Back it up, dude. She knows how to use a landline, didn't know the buttons on this new handset for speaker.

If you're allowed to live to maturity, and then to old age (I suspect you will be put out of our misery before that time unless you learn a civil tongue), you will understand the fun of limited vision.
