- Ellen| 1 replyThey just called me at work. When I answered they hung up. I called them back and they anwered as being some health and wellness center. I told them they hung up on me and she apologized. Immediately asked for my name so she could pull up my record. I did not give her any information. I asked what they wanted and she said that they were calling about health and wellness because my name was in some database. I said I was not interested. She said if you don't want any more calls give me your name and I will take your name out of the system. I just said that's ok and she kept insisting that I give her my name so she could delete my name from the database. I finally said no thanks and hung up on her. I think they are Pfishing for information to scam people.

- RBGOT A CALL SAYING THEY WANTED TO FOLLOWUP ON MY HEALTH PROBLEMS.
I HUNG UP. - angieThis actually is ok. it's a company that contracts through your healthcare plan at work to provide you information on various healthcare topics. if you check with your insurance company or employer they should know about it. it's sometimes called well aware. sometimes it has a different name. if you answer the phone you'll talk to a nurse who will ask you a few questions and then give you some information. you can tell the nurse that you don't want to be called anymore. i talked to them (since i was aware of this through my health plan) and i was given an additional $250 in my healthcare reimbursement account at work. they answer as "your health plan" because they work with many many insurance companies. they don't ask you for anything that can be used to harm your credit (SSN, etc). so answer the phone. like i said, if you tell the nurse to stop calling you, they stop. it's just a part of your healthcare benefit.
- Caller: well aware/american healthways
- Call type: Valid
- angiet replies to brustarthey contract with a lot of insurance companies, not just bcbs. i have cigna. my sister and brother in law have aetna and they receive calls. if you don't want them to call you anymore, just let them know. check with your hr/health insurance company. i'm sure they will tell you about this program. it's often called well aware, healthwell, or american healthways (depending on your insurance company).
- JT| 1 replyCalled my cell number which I don't know how they got that number, but they hung up. So, I called from my work number and they said that they were Care First. I said that I don't have such a company and that I have Blus Cross Blue Shield and then the person said that they were part of Blue Cross Blue Shield and that he needed my name and address and other info. Well, first if it truly was Blue Cross Blue Shield they know all of that info. 2. my insurance is through my husbands work / name so they wouldn't be calling me. 3. Blue Cross Blue Shield doesn't know them. So, watch out. Do not give them any info.
- Caller: Care First
- Bill Pfaff replies to JTThey are legit. Ask your benefit's department.
- KevinThey just called me in my cell phone, saying they were from Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield and wanted to offer me a new benefit package.
I happen work for Carefirst BCBS, and told them as much. The woman on the other end seemed quite bewildered and immediately hung up.
Me: 1 Scammer: 0 - CareFirst BCBS CustomerSo if you are wondering what this is. It is part of the health education program when a RN (Registered Nurse) Case Manager wants to speak to you regarding any reoccurring health care needs: asthma, diabetes. They want to double check to see if you have any issues, questions, or concerns and serve as a link to fill any space when your primary care provider may be unavailable if you have any questions or think you should seek emergency care but are unsure. They also can help you develop a health plan to improve your overall well being. So you should ask yourself this question: Do I have Carefirst Bluecross Blueshield? or do I have BCBS that has participation in wellness programs? And if so, have you listed your cell phone or home phone as a contact number? You would also have found literature sent in the mail that fully describe this free benefit.
- Caller: Carefirst BCBS
- martyI get a call every single day from this number. I finally reached someone this morning and asked them to stop calling me. They do not leave a message. They said they cannot leave a message due to medical information. I said if you have my number then just say, can't leave message, call me. The person said he would have a supervisor contact me advising me why they cannot leave a message. I told them I have my own medical insurance and to stop calling me. I have placed my home number on the "do not call list" and obviously this does not work. DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR CALLS. I information system security work and DO NOT GIVE ANYONE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF.
- Caller: YOURHEALTHPLAN
- BefuddledThey left a message identifying themselves as Care First Blue Cross. Asked that I call them back at 800-783-4580. That switches to a recording asking me to ring a different number which will charge $5 a minute and appear on the phone bill as caller assistance from Nevada. I'm not that dumb.
