Received a call from an Officer Marshall, claiming call was a fraud investigation against my employer. He said he was from the IRS, demanding a credit card for payment of +4000 in taxes owed. If not an officer would be sent within 1/2 hour to arrest him.

This sounds like a definite scam. The IRS generally will not contact you over the phone. It is usually by mail or in person. My suggestion is that you report these calls to the IRS website.

Just got a call from this number also stating he was John Adams with Dept of Federal Crime & Enforcement Division in Pittsburg,PA.  Caller ID shows Nandini Thakar.  He stated he was a Junior verification officer. Says a legal complaint has been filed against me and that there is an arrest warrant issued. I asked what it was regarding, but he needed to verify my address first. I refused to confirm and hung up. He then called back and said if I did not have my lawyer call back within 30min, he would have me arrested.  Called local police dept and they agreed it was a scam.

Someone with Spanish accent left a similar type message on my home phone about 3 hours ago.  Returned the call on this number which was picked up by a guy with an Indian accent.  He then connected me with another person, named Thomas Obrien with Spanish accent.  He said you owe back federal taxes for 2010 and 2011 to the tune of $4710.  There are 3 federal charges against me  for which they have arrest warrant against me.  I said I did not get you and then he connected me to another Indian, named Balbir Singh.  He claimed himself to be  an attorney with IRS and repeated the same thing.  He said either you settle for the money due IRS right now or he is going to sign the unbailable warrant against me. I said go ahead  He then shouted for the Marshal to go and arrest me.  Still waiting for that someone to come at my door.

I got a very similar call, except the first number showed as Phoenix Police Dep (Phoenix, AZ) - I know because I googled the number, but then the first caller said "I need to transfer you" and (the idiot) told me what number he was transferring me to, which was 412 360 8442. The two guys, who are supposed to be two different people, actually sounded very similar!

The rest of the story was similar, except he said that IRS had sent multiple notices to my previous address. That made me suspicious right away because why would IRS send me a note to my former address (I file taxes every year and they have my current address). Anyway, I wanted to play with the guy a little bit more and asked him how much the amount was and if I could take care of it right away on the phone with a credit card and he said that credit card won't work, only with a green card. That made me suspicious right away because I just heard from a friend someone pretending to be Dish Network trying to scam money, but the condition was that the payment had to be made via green dot, which means that there is no way to retrieve the money once it's gone. Beware folks. IRS does not call you or send warrants like this.

BTW, I did go down to my nearest Police Precinct to really verify that there is no warrant in my name. The officer told me that this is something very common.

My parents got this same call! I'm a prosecutor and we don't have the deputies make phone calls notifying people of warrants.Sounds scary but don't be fooled!

I also got a call asking me to call this number and talk to Thomas O'Brien. I called and got voicemail. Second time within a month (it was another number before). Still waiting for the arresting officer to show up at my home or work within 30 minutes of that call.

I got a voice mail yesterday from a number that seems to belong to the NJ state police . The caller had an indian accent and said he was deputy Watson with the NJ State police and I was wanted for a federal crime and needed to call Micheal Black with the federal crime unit at 412 360 8442 within 30 minutes or a warrant would be issued.

I think if the police really wanted to get in touch with me they have my address :) . Just surprised that the original call had a NJ state police number on it
