- J.M.Left a voicemail (phone did not ring). Female voice speaking what sounded like English, but the audio was so garbled (or the accent so thick) I couldn't understand any of it.

- IrritatedThis phone number is called me for the last 4 days, been up to 15 times in one day. Any attempt to call them back go straight to a busy signal. If they actually wanted to talk to me they would allow me to call them back and let them know what I think about them.
- Scam Target| 3 repliesSomeone called, stated I owed magazines. Gave the number 1-888-684-2138. I could pay the $199 cancellation fee or the full balance. Supposedly authorized in June, and they'd been "trying to reach me", but were unsuccessful despite neither my address nor phone number changing since then, and for 4 months of that I worked for an insurance company and LITERALLY called every number that dialed me back. Refused to provide proof of authorization for billing, and said that the only way I could get that was to pay the cancellation fee. Googled the number 888-684-2138....got the same story as the one dialing from this number.

- Tracy Douthit| 1 replyLady called and said I owed $800.00 for magazines I didn't order and that I didn't receive. The only way I can get this cancelled out is by paying a$160.00 cancellation fee. She wanted to argue I know for fact you got them . When I didn't , and I don't order any. She said she would send my final bill. This has to be a scam or someone else has ordered magazines in my name. What can I do.

- BigA replies to Tracy DouthitThis is the magazine extortion scam. $800 in magazines? Seriously? Were they gold plated? When you get that "final bill" please stop back and give us the information on it, such as the company name and address. In the meantime, I would suggest this:
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- sy| 1 replyThese crooks harassed an elderly family member and tried to charge her hundreds of dollars for magazines she never ordered. The website is readusallsolution.net, it appears to be located in Quebec. They advertise for programmers for the website on https://www.upwork.com/job/Need-someone-updat ... 05cda27d758bc6/ . Total crooks, should be arrested.

- BigA replies to syI checked that web address at Whois. The site has been up since 2007 and is set to expire in 2024. However, something strange happened. The registrants name came up for a brief second (it was Abu something) and then it switched to listing a privacy service to conceal the name and address.
It appears that he really does need some web help as the page will not load at all. - SamanthaI received a phone call today (July 16, 2018) from Readers Services (California number 415-691-4280, when I tried calling back, I got a busy signal) stating I owe $400 for magazines I've never ordered. Or I could pay a $199 termination fee, splitting the payment in half if needed over two months, $100 today and the remaining $99 next month. The man, he gave his name as Bill Curtin, said if I didn't pay the termination fee today, my "account" would automatically be renewed for the next 24 months. I told him I didn't order any magazines AND I didn't feel comfortable giving him my credit card info over the phone, and even if I did, I didn't have the $199. He then proceeded to tell me that if I wasn't comfortable giving out my card number, I could go to the nearest Walmart and wire him the payment or get one of those reloadable cards and send him the payment that way. I ended the phone call telling him to send me a bill in the mail or send me to collections. So we'll see what happens..

- John S.This number calls me repeatedly and this evening forgot to disconnect and it sounded like a bunch of people at a party. Lots of talking, laughing and echoing in the background. When I tried to call back, it came back with Goodbye.
- day zipper| 1 replyThis person called and told me I needed to pay $ 199 to cancel my subscription to magazines I never ordered. They had a heavy Indian accent and I asked where you calling from, they asked why I need to know that, I told them they sounded like they were from India and were scammers. He laughed and continued to say I needed to send 199 to cancel. I told them to not call again like that is going to happen. I will not answer the phone, that simple.

- BigA replies to day zipperYou can be sure that if someone from India calls looking for money or information it is a scam. That is pretty much all they do over there anymore. Like it is the national mission to scam honest, hardworking Americans.
