- **VALUED CUSTOMER**Just had a call from "Mark Paul" at this number (second time today), when I asked him for his company name he only gave me the first word (1st Violation of the law in Alberta), asked for someone else when I asked what it concerned he claimed this person had applied for services from his client, Not that he was a collection company/agent (2nd violation under Alberta Law). When I asked what his company did he told me to look up "Common" on the internet, well under the law he has to tell me (3rd Violation).
But the best part was by me asking for this information he got quite testy and rude, he suggested I look up his company. I took him up on it and guess what, I deal with his client. So I just phone CIBC Visa and told them of the rude treatment I had just had with a representative of one of their contractors. I'm assured they will deal with it. I will be following up with my Bank Manager in the morning to re-enforce my displeasure and I will be getting a hold of Service Alberta to file a formal complaint as well.
I pay my bills and as I was just told I'm a VALUED CIBC client and they regret that my supper hour was interrupted by this company for something that had nothing to do with me.- Caller: Common

- GI keep getting calls from these f***** idiots. They can't give me an answer on who they think there calling. They refuse to identify themselves the only reason I even know who they are is from googling the number to get here. All they want is to get my "information" and won't say anything else but yet they keep calling seems like a f***** scam to me. I HAVE LITTERLY 0 OUTSTANDING DEPTS.
- Caller: common collecters

- hate scamI do not answer calls unless its our contact or caller identified via the caller display. This number called many times but I never answered but came to this site to check it. I believe its scam calls. I do not like to speak with scammers and started to block this number with my phone system. For others, I also use the Telus anonymous call block "private" callers so those calls will never make it through.
- Caller: don't know
- WalterThis Agent 242 called me and asked somebody we never know. I hate so many bad callers around these days, they highly interfere with our normally daily life. Government should do something to stop these kinds of calls.

- Nunya Bidness replies to One of the same...Bear in mind that the statute of limitations in Ontario is 2 years from the last date of debt acknowledgement. Acknowledgement can be a payment or a simple acknowledgement on the phone to a debt collector that you owe the money. That limitation may be different for different provinces, but the principle still stands. If it has been more than 2 years since last acknowledgement, then the limitation has expired and as long as you don't acknowledge the debt after that point (that resets the clock even after expiration) you are not legally obligated to pay anything.
- Nunya Bidness replies to I oweyou| 1 replyThis is only partially true. If you acknowledge that you owe the debt in any way -- even verbally -- the clock resets *even after the statute of limitations has expired*. If you have not acknowledged the debt and they have not taken legal action within the statute period, as long as you continue to not acknowledge the debt, you legally owe nothing, and they legally can do nothing to recoup it. All they can do is keep bothering you and selling your debt to more collectors down the ladder, who can't do anything either.

What ca ne people legally do with harassing calls? - Saldean replies to LosersDo a little online research, in many jurisdictions the statute of limitations on actionable suits can be as little as 2 years; meaning that if they haven't commenced legal proceedings by that time they cannot sue you for the debt.
- Hawk replies to nameAt least the caller ID identified the agent. When I answered, "RCMP Fraud" the tone became very respectful ....
- SThat I need to cal back at their number andrefer to a file no.

- Terry replies to Nunya BidnessBetter do some research before you reply to comments...Variables are Province....average 2 years across Canada...Que i think is 3, anyways "verbally" is not a method of reassurance of payments...As long as you do not make any payments or write any thing down as per say a agreement to re-pay then after the 2 years they cannot pursue.....thanks
- Terry replies to lindaMine was agent 225...Unfortunately Linda not much we can do here in Canada with our lax laws regarding phone harassment...unless they threaten your life theres not a dam thing you can do.
- RadiomanReceived a phone call at my business from "AGENT 544" from number 416-297-7077 asking about a business next door to me. He acted as if he knew me, and wanted to know a few things about that particular business. He seemed upset that I would not answer his questions about that business owner (that he referred to by the first name). I get very suspicious when unknown people from Ontario phone and act as if they know me.

- very upseti just got a call from this number, I tried telling them they had wrong number so she started getting mad at me and then she hung up.
- Caller: 416-297-7077

- JohnOne of their agents just left a message on my phone and implied they can force me to pay something from many years ago. Ontario, as many have mentioned, has a 2 year statute of limitations on non-secured debt. Why would anybody want to work with your company when you start out by lying to them??
