- J Strong| 21 repliesFDR - Financial Debt Recovery...low life scums that buy old debts for pennies then harass you to collect them.
Ignore these calls, I guarantee it is not a new debt..it is years old and long written off and you under the law of Ontario have no commitment to pay. If you do talk to them ask them send you proof you owe this debt, or better still say I have no debts don't call me take me to court.- Caller: FDR - Financial Debt Recovery

- Jeff replies to J Strong| 20 repliesWell if it is FDR it is more than likely it is a debt years old and pass the stats of limitations, they will use all kinds of tricks to get you admit to the debt which could start the clock over.
Admit nothing, most people went through a hard time and now many have good clean credit and these guys buy old debts for pennies in some cases over 10 years old and try to get you pay them this old amount in full.
If you know you have no recent debts but something old in your pass over a few years old ignore. - Seymour replies to Jeff| 19 repliesAll debtors have a MORAL obligation to repay the lender, no matter how long ago the debt occurred. People that owe debts from years ago, and have recovered financially, should have the conscience to repay what is owed. Every unpaid debt is eventually passed on to the honest taxpayers, in one form or another.

- Seymour replies to Tamianth| 11 repliesNone of this covers the MORAL obligation to repay HONEST debts, only the ability to avoid the payment of legitimate debts using the 'legal' systems. If a person owes a debt, at least attempts should be made to repay it.
- Slim replies to Seymour| 3 repliesSeymour -
Your statement is almost correct, but, how can you be so sure ALL these supposed debts have really been incurred? FDCPA rulings state it is the collector who must prove the debt is real, and must also prove the collector is legally authorized to collect it. - Seymour replies to Slim| 2 repliesThe term 'moral obligation' attempts to infer that the debtor acknowledges that the debt is indeed owed. I think we are both thinking along the same lines!
- Tamianth replies to Seymour| 2 repliesNever said it did or did not. I posted the information on this company - that is it period. You can't change the laws BTW .. they are what they are simply said. People have the right to know where this company is no matter what. So how long have you worked for them?
- MidNYteStorm replies to SeymourI am not sure if you posted a comment since all I see is a blank box where the words should be.
- Joan replies to Seymour| 1 replyYou obviously work for them, they called my number and I have no debts they are looking for some previous owner of my cell. Why don't you comment on them harassing people that have a recycled number and is not the person they are looking for.
They had 6 calls a day to my number before I finally call them and found out the name they are after is not me but someone who had the number.
They need to get facts in order before they harass people, I told him not to call my ***** number gain or they will have yet another complaint on file for them. - Joan replies to SeymourGet back on the phones for FDR Seymour and harass other who just happened have a number a person who owed a 12 year old debt previously had.
- Joan replies to Tamianth| 1 replyExactly he is an employee they Google their own numbers, they were calling me half a dozen times a day before I called looking to see who was bothering me and it turns out I am not even the name they were after.
- Ralph replies to Seymour| 1 replySeymour you talk about obligated to pay HONES debts and yes that is true but what your company FDR does is go by old long written off debts for pennies and then tries to collect the full outstanding amount.
The bank lends $5000 and the poor Joe lose job or what the case maybe the bank eventually marks this as a loss and is compensated for the bad loan.
The debt is circulating between collection companies, you but this $5000 for a low as a $1000 and they go after the person 10 years later for the full amount. LOL you paid 100 bucks for it, the banks has long written it off…you are wrong it is an unenforceable debt.
Lenders know loans are lost regardless to if it is hundreds of thousands from some company or a few thousand from a poor Joe. Nothing Honest about FDR buying that old debt for pennies then harassing for the full amount. - Tamianth replies to JoanWe get the same things happening here in the US. :)
- richieSeymour - Lets say a person steals something and doesn't have the said cash/property to return and gets caught by the cops. He goes to jail. Once he has had this punishment he doesn't have to return the said cash/property. Have a bad credit for 6 years that collection agencies put on bad debt is the jail sentence. So once this sentence is gone we have no moral/legal duty left to repay - we have already done our jail sentence so to say.
