Called me, looking for a friend of mine who used my number when getting a cellphone.

When asked, the guy (arrogant little prick) said hes with CBV Collections.
He was calling about a debt owed to Bell Canada (Mobile)

Told him I no longer have contact with said friend; to remove me from their list and never call me again. He said he won't remove my number and told me to try to get in contact with friend and told him to pay his bill.  I told him call me again and I'll press harassment charges, to which he replied to go ahead.  In the end, I said you have no right to call me, delete my number.  He just said OK and hung up.

They call and call for my son who doesn't live here and has no cell plan, he's pay as you go. I told them to stop calling and send him a letter. If they call again I'll be asking for a supervisor and having the number blocked by the phone company.
My son advises he doesn't have any outstanding bills. He doesn't own a credit card, I know this for sure, and they won't tell me anything. It took some fancy talking just to get the comapany name from them.
They haven't even got his name right each time they call. sounds like a clown factory to me.

I received a call from these scum bags as well.  They wouldn't identify themselves, but wanted me to have someone contact them, and if I didn't they would keep calling.  I asked who they were and they hung up on me.  They threatened the wrong guy on this one, as I have contacted the Toronto Fraud Division, the Minister of Consumer Complaints for Ontario.  Was informed by the Government Rep, they are aware of this so called collection agency, but they couldn't do nothing until they have enough complaints against them.  I would think one complaint should be enough.  So fellow canadians who have a problem with them, call 416-327-8300 to register your complaint.  I was informed by the agent at the Ontario Government that Michael Irwin was the Director of Operations for the company and for me to send him a Fax telling them to stop harrassing and threatening me.  What kind of government to do have in Ontario, when they give these scum bags a license to scam people for their personal information, and expect me to take care of the problem.  I contacted a reputable collection agency in Manitoba, and they informed me there is a Collections Law, that states they have to let you know who they are and if you they are registered in the province you reside.  So I called back and asked them the questions, they laughed told me it was none of my business and hung up. You can also contact the RCMP Phone Busters 1-888-495-8501 and if they get enough complaints, they will pass them forward.  Cheers

These people keep calling my house for someone that doesn't live here... I tried to be polite when they insisted they have spoken with this person via my phone number... I've had this number for 2 years & have never spoken to them personally. I asked to speak to a manager & they hung up. I called the number back & they sent me to someone's voicemail where I proceeded to inform them that every time they call my house & ask for this person I have no problem hanging up & calling them back & wasting their time... I also made a point of telling them this was harassment & I will be looking into how I take action against them... Thank you for providing that number I will definitely be calling!

Unfortunately, they aren't a "so called" collections agency. I work collections, and if we have reason to believe the debtor does live there, we CAN call again, however the number should be removed after that.

Also, I highly doubt they called anyones family deadbeats, etc. Collection calls are recorded and monitored, not only by the office itself, but outside monitors and the client they represent.

If you're getting THAT pissed off over a wrong number, ask for the collectors name and license number. Then file a complaint with their head office. Or change your phone number.

    "....Or change your phone number."
    That may backfire.

There is a finite number of phone numbers available in any area.  In some areas the number of phones in use is dangerously close to the number of numbers available.  So your "new" phone number probably belonged to someone else not long ago.  They may have changed phone numbers to get rid of their wrong-number pest.

This number calls my work daily up to 4 times a day and says ABSOLUTELY nothing on their end. I say  hello a few times and nothing. I want to be able to block this phone number so will have to talk with the IT Guy and find out if he can. Our number must be in their data base and when they call and here it's a business it doesn't connect or something...It's so annoying when I have multiple phone lines to answer and see them come up time and time again!!!!!!!
