A company claiming to be Numeris called me twice today.  The lady asked me if I had a few minutes to be a part of a survey about media usage. I told her I was busy and hung up.  Two hours later she called back.  This time I reluctantly agreed.  She kept me on the phone for 15 minutes asking questions about the types of audio and media services I subscribe to and the amount of time I spent on them daily.  Most of the questions were congruent with what she told me she would ask about but then she started to ask for information that I didn’t feel comfortable providing.  She inquired about the amount of people living at my house hold. She asked for each person’s age that lived with me and the amount of hours we each worked per week.  She also asked for my address and when I hesitated she kept insisting.  She asked me to visit their website so I could read about their privacy policy.  She told me to google them to ease my suspicion.  She claimed that the address was an important part of the survey and without it the entire survey would be useless.  I looked up the website www.Numeris.ca which looks legitimate.  The first few google searches gave me no reason to believe I was being scammed. However once the call was over I researched them some more and came across mixed opinions. After reading others’ experiences I came to the conclusion that this company is a nuisance for its incessant calls.  I feel like an idiot for not listening to my gut and declining the survey for the second time.

Numeris is a valid telephone survey company.  The calls are permitted per the Canadian DNC site.  What exactly did this person do wrong based on your opinion and not the opinion of other people?  I know that I form my opinions based on my experience and not on other people's experience.  I see nothing in your report that indicates anything other than an actual telephone survey.  If I am missing something then please point it out to me.

I agree with you. Just came off of this phone call. Everything seemed on the up and up until asking me for my address. Something in my gut said not to give it and he said look up the numeris website. Nothing wrong with Numeris but the number he called from, same as yours, wasn't showing me anything related to numeris. All I need is someone knowing how many hours a week my wife and I work, and then my address. Definitely shady.

I just want them to quit calling me. As soon as I pickup the phone to place a call and hang up I get a call from Numeris and when you tell them that you are not interested and to stop calling your number they persistently want to know why. No in any language means no. Period. A person should not have to explain their reasons. Enough is enough.
