- SaraI answered this call reluctantly because it said "Los Angeles Area". A lady asked for the owner and I said he wasn't here, may I take a message and she said, can you make decisions on his behalf? I said, no and she hung up on me. She almost sounded like a robot.

- Tech Guy| 1 replyI did not answer, but was tempted. Glad I resisted. This stuff is so out of control. Your phone company won't help, your gov't won't help. What would be great is a white list approach.

- TrackerFyi people, you shouldn't comment on these fraud phone calls and should just block and ignore them because they change the number after a certain number of complaints.
- HA| 2 repliesA tip to the people commenting, you shouldn't comment and should just block the message and ignore the call because the callers change numbers after a certain number of complaints to get around the call blocks.
- zoom replies to HAI doubt all these caller-ID spoofing scammers either monitor post count here, nor use it as their criteria for when to change their spoofed numbers. If nobody reports any numbers that call them, this site would have no purpose.

- Pat K| 1 replyCan anyone tell me how to block this number? This number is calling my "pay per minute" cell phone on a daily basis now and leaving no messages.. REALLY ANNOYING--and costing me, to boot, even though I am not answering it.
- GT| 1 replyWhy oh why did I ever put my phone number on the Internet?? Good for business they said... It'll be fun they said...
- LJCCall on business line with no msg. Will block.
- DT replies to GTThey lied... ha ha!
- DT replies to Pat KYou have to have call blocking through your phone company, or a call blocker device. My phone company only allowed me 10 numbers on the block list (and I have 52 pages - and growing every day - of notes with numbers I wanted to block). About a year ago we bought a CPR Call Blocker. It's a small unit that attaches to our phone between it and the wall.
I researched these quite extensively before buying and found there are really only two competing ones on the market: CPR Call Blocker and Digitone Call Blocker Plus. The ratings at that time were pretty much equal, but I went with the CPR because it has a button you can press during an unwanted call and it blocks that number.
HOWEVER, I have not been happy with the CPR Call Blocker. Using the button gives you no indication the block was successful so I have NEVER used it. Instead I have to manually enter the number (press **7#, enter the number, and press # again). You get one beep if the block was successful, and two beeps if the number is already in your block list; at first I didn't know what the two beeps meant, and when I contacted the company to ask them, the rep had NO IDEA why. Not exactly confidence building. But the WORST part of it is, every time and I mean EVERY TIME we pick up the handset to answer a call, we get a gawdawful screech, and it's caused by the CPR blocker. It doesn't When we pick up the handset to make a call it goes click, click click (very l loud and with static) before giving us a dial tone. MOST of the time we have to hang up and pick up the receiver again in order to finally get a dial tone. Also, the calls do ring through, a blocked call rings once and then stops - so we're already on the way to answer it before we know it's a telemarketer. I think that this problem, though, is what you'll get with any of these devices.
When I contacted the company they said we didn't follow instructions for installing the unit (not much room for error - you plug the left side into your wall cord and the right side into your phone) OR that there's an issue on our phone line, even though we have no static or other problems when their unit isn't plugged in. Every contact with them has said exactly the same thing.
I have NO idea whether the Digitone model would cause these kinds of issues, or it's own issues, or be perfect. But I will shortly be throwing the CPR Call Blocker in the garbage and ordering a Digitone.
