Why would they have a local number when they have an 800 number [(866) 613-3777)]? Also, I don't need food stamps so why would I need them to call me? Sounds suspicious to me.

Spoke in a language I don't even speak. Said it's DPSS Calfresh or whatever.

When I called back, a recording said it was a dpss office and asked information like birthdate and last 4 of my social security number. When I called again it hangs up before you can get a response. Is this number a scam line?

I tried to call this number back and it said "Los Angeles Department of Social Services," then hung up. I think it's a scam.

Let it go to voicemail, voicemail was just static for 3 seconds.

I works think you would know you received your calfresh early, without a phone call. But even if you didn't, you know who called so why would you look up the phone number?

I received an automated phone call from this number Monday, 3/2/20. I listened to the message which said, "This is the DPSS Cal-Fresh.  I believe the rest of the message said, "since you have Medi-care and Medi-Cal, you are eligible for Cal-Fresh."  The automated voice instructed me to call a different number for details.

I hung up the phone, and assumed the message would automatically be saved, as there are two ways of saving a  voice mail: one is by, on my cell phone, press 7; the other is to "just hang up."

I  immediately went to my phone history on my cell phone to write down the phone # of the automated call.  The phone # was 424-405-5908.  I deleted this phone # from my history, then typed my phone # into the cell phone so I could hear the message again.

To my SHOCK, the automated voice on my cell phone told me, "You do not have any MESSAGES."  What happened to this voice mail?  And why did the automated voice on my cell phone say, "MESSAGES," instead of "VOICE MAILS."

This is the first call I received from this phone #.  If I receive another phone call from this number, I will write down the complete messages and UPDATE MY EXPERIENCE.

I will investigate this number with BEEN VERIFIED.

DPSS call saying our offices are closed.

They keep calling me 3-6 times a day idk seems a little suspicious to me. I tried to call back and it only says “ department of social services” then it hangs up ...so idk seems pretty sketchy.

This persons phone number has a county office
( DPSS office telephone voice message. They don't call on saturdays and 9pm at night. What's being done about????

Called twice a minute apart, left no message.

It is DPPS calling to tell you it gave you money in advance. After reading these posts, I called the CalFresh customer service line. To my surprise, I found that my account balance had increased by the amount of my monthly benefits.
