I received the same text just a few minutes ago, obviously not going to be dumb enough to call that number, but what information can someone get from you just dialing a number?

This is a phishing scam.  Use common sense and DO NOT follow any links or attempt to reply to the message.

I got the same. I wish somebody would put as much time and energy into finding a job,paying their bills and taking care of their own kids...Im tired of paying for everybody elses kids. I have a job.Maybe they could be a positive part of society. Internet fraud, police and veriozon all contacted. Protect all your info.

same message, called verizon so they are aware of it. I rarely text so i was surprised i got it.

Got the same text.  This is weird and the second time I received an unverified message from
818-615-6169 and 425-286-6026

On Monday at about 12 noon Seattle time, we became the victim of someone who had hi-jacked one of our phone numbers and forwarded it to a number in Texas. The hi-jackers then sent out a mass text message for recipients to call our (now hi-jacked) number and enter this scam. Callers were then requested to give their credit card information.

In cooperation with the phone company, we turned off that number and changed to a different number. After that, we reported the incident to the Cyber-Crime unit of the FBI.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused, and we hope that nobody gave their information to these scammers.
