- mattinthehatGot the same call regarding lowering rates. Pressed 1, and then had this dialogue:
(background noise of a manufacturing plant)
Them: Thank you for pressing 1 to continue. Are you interested in lowering your interest rates?
Me: Which cards are you talking about?
Them: I'm talking about your Visa or Mastercard that you use.
Me: But you can't tell me which one?
Them: I'm talking about the one you pay on every month. Now, I'm going to discuss with you some of the rates that are available for these cards, OK?
Me: Okaaaaay.
Them: Are you currently located in NC?

- velocityJust took a call from 442074080556. Woman voice asking for me to lower rates and to press 1. Knowing this is a scam, pressed one. Background noise of phone ringing and then lady coming on line asking me if i pressed one to lower rates. At that point I said no and call ended on their side. Now this was on my cell phone. Just wondering how many others are cell phone vs land lines.

Here's the form I used: https://donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
In case you're wondering (from http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm).
Are telemarketing calls from overseas covered?
Yes. Any telemarketers calling U.S. consumers are covered, regardless of where they are calling from. If a company within the U.S. solicits sales through an overseas professional telemarketer, that U.S. company may be liable for any violations by the telemarketer. The FTC can initiate enforcement actions against such companies. - EricGot this call about a half hour ago. Did not pick up because of strange number.
- Caller: n/a
- I. GotchaThe call is definitely from London, England.
I received a call from a "442" in October. 442 074-3178 This the way it showed up on the Caller ID. There is no 442 Area Code here in the U.S. or Canada, for that matter.
It would be separated as: 44 20 7431 78xx - would like to have the last two numbers.
Credit Card Services.
It was a taped message referring to a lower credit card rate. Um, I don't OWN a credit card!
44 is the Country code for the United Kingdom. 20 is the City code for London. So, if you receive this particular number, you'll have to separate it like this: 44 20 7408 0556. - tyReceived on my cell phone. I don't answer as I have been informed this is a credit card scam.
- Bob SMy carrier is Sprint.
- brooklynI just ordered a referee's whistle on amazon. These [***] have been harassing me for over a year. Next time these [***] call to 'lower my credit card rate', I'm gonna blow their [***] eardrums out. They wanna be [***], I'll be a [***] too. [***] THEM.
